Qatar Foundation Schools is seeking an exceptional teacher to serve as the district coordinator for its Gifted and Talented Program effective August 1, 2016.

Information about the Qatar Foundation Schools

We are a consortium of 8 schools serving over 4,500 students Qatari and international students in the State of Qatar.  Most of our schools offer the IB program at a variety of levels.  Qatar Foundation Schools are under the umbrella of Qatar Foundation and support the QF vision of moving our country from a carbon-based economy to a knowledge-based economy by unlocking human potential. 

The Coordinator would work under the Director of The Learning Centre (TLC), the district’s centralized special education support program for schools.

Information About The Learning Centre (TLC)

TLC is in its first year as a center providing a wide-range of learning support services to all Qatar Foundation Schools for students from 6 months of age to early adulthood.  With a dynamic and highly skilled team of psychologists, speech and language pathologists, occupational therapists, special education teachers, instructional coaches and instructional assistants, TLC provides consultation, academic and therapeutic services and professional development to students and staff district wide.

TLC utilizes a multi-tiered system of supports framework for academic and behavior needs, focusing on assisting Qatar Foundation Schools with developing and enhancing systems, as well as providing direct student support to ensure academic progress and success for all students.

About the Position

This is a new position and the Coordinator will be responsible for all aspects of the development and implementation of gifted and talented services in each of our schools.   

Program Vision

The vision for this program would be to identify exceptionally abled students and provide them with rich, authentic, and challenging learning opportunities to create the problem solvers of the future.         

General Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership, direction and structure to a district Gifted and Talented education program
  • Assist schools with identification and support for students
  • Promote a collaborative and cohesive learning culture
  • Ensure that all decisions and processes are designed to improve student learning
  • Work with the teachers on curriculum development and professional development planning
  • Work with parents in a dynamic, thoughtful and proactive way

 Qualifications and Characteristics

  • A proven track record of leading outstanding Gifted and Talented programs
  • Teaching and administrative certification
  • 10 years of teaching experience
  •  Prior teacher leadership experience
  •  Master’s degree preferably in Gifted Education
  •  Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational abilities
  •  Conceptual thinking and strategic planning skills
  •  Ability to analyse and problem solve
  •  Ability to motivate, inspire and act as a positive role model

 

Salary and Benefits

 

Salary is competitive and will be commensurate with qualifications and experience of the successful candidate.
