Norma has an immense amount of international experience in teaching and administration. After first teaching in Missouri, USA, she moved to Saudi Arabia and remained at the International Schools Group for 33 years, first teaching music before transitioning into leadership positions-- first as Assistant Principal, then as Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction, and lastly as Superintendent. During her leadership of ISG, Norma oversaw a $40million budget, the growth of the school from 2,400 to 3,700 students and provided oversight for the building of the new Dammam School ($28 million budget), while introducing new curricular programs and professional development opportunities, among many other accomplishments.
Since 2013, Norma has led the International School of Kuala Lumpur (ISKL) in building a brand-new, state-of-the-art campus for ISKL. With a capacity for 2,500 students, a strategic vision focused on advancing learning, nurturing wellness, and promoting partnerships with all school stakeholders, and an emphasis on professional learning, ISKL is recognized as a top-tier international school. Norma helped pave the pathway for continued success.
As Senior Consultant with Search Associates, Norma will work with the incoming Director of Consulting Services Division and other division members to conduct Director/Head of School/Superintendent searches. She will also pursue other school leadership searches and consulting engagements, including board governance training and strategic planning. Her experience and geographical expertise in the two fastest growing areas of the international schools market--the Middle East and Asia--will be unparalleled assets as we develop our consulting operations and seek to make them more robust and expansive.
