We are seeking a Director of Marketing & Communications to tell our story, build our community and support our vision!


This role acts as guardian of our unique brand to position UNIS Hanoi as School of Choice in Hanoi and Vietnam for:

  • Prospective families seeking excellent education for their children
  • Outstanding faculty that we would want to recruit
  • Community partners seeking to work with the next generation of world changers.


To achieve these outcomes, the person in this role will design and implement strategies and programmes across multiple platforms that ensure:

  • Institutional communications consistently and effectively inform, celebrate and connect our direct community
  • Our institutional reputation is actively managed and promoted locally and globally targeting a variety of stakeholder groups in support of the School’s Annual and Strategic Plans
  • Systems are implemented and managed to ensure efficiency for both internal communications and external outreach in close collaboration with our Tech Director
  • Delivery of budgeted enrolment in a cross-team endeavour and in partnership with the Director of Enrolment
  • Effective data gathering and analysis supports review and decision making for both marketing and communications.


UNIS Hanoi’s community gathers families from different countries, learning systems and cultural expectations around education. The Marketing & Communications Director will play a vital role in establishing new markets and reinforcing target markets for recruitment for the School’s enrollment and employment.



In addition they will grow communication and connection programmes that ensure understanding and confidence for those joining our learning community, and nurture a strong sense of belonging for all members of our community.



The Director of Marketing & Communications will be able to demonstrate experience and leadership success in the following specific areas:


  • Successfully design and deliver comprehensive plans for Marketing and Communications outreach to deliver institutional goals with measurable outcomes including both relational and digital programmes (website, social media, events, film, word-of-mouth, inbound marketing campaigns, SEO management etc)
  • Brand articulation, promotion and visual identity management to ensure a cohesive organisational ‘window to the world’ with broad community understanding of our USPs and value proposition
  • Systems review, design, and transition/implementation (or retirement) including team training and roll out
  • Best practice policies ensuring communications and marketing respect child protection/privacy, and reflect DEIJ (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Justice) choices
  • Excellent writing skills and ‘storytelling savvy’ with a track record of effective leverage of stories for impact
  • Leading crisis communications for an institution including recovery and re-positioning planning
  • Excellent relationship building both internally with colleagues and externally with partners including corporate and government
  • Supervision of a team (including during distance working conditions) and ability to collaborate effectively with senior colleagues.

The Director of Marketing & Communications will be part of the Advancement Team with direct support for their role, and will work closely in partnership with the Enrolment Director and their team.


Our ideal candidate will be a highly experienced professional with a track record of success who enjoys working collaboratively with teams across the organisation. Preferred qualifications include:

  • Undergraduate Degree, major in marketing, communications, public relations or related fields
  • Internationally recognised PostGraduate Degree and/or Professional Qualification
  • 10+ years relevant marketing and communications experience
  • 5+ years in a supervisory role with management experience
  • Significant experience within stakeholder/community engagement programmes
  • Experience in the education or not for profit environment preferred
  • Excellent proficiency in various software applications such as Google suite, Microsoft Office, Adobe Professional and other related software systems (Veracross experience an advantage) including administration of Social Media platforms
  • Proficient, proven digital marketing skills (SEO, PPC, Social Media Strategy)
  • Outstanding written and verbal multicultural communication and presentation skills
  • Proven leadership, organizational and collaborative skills
  • Fluency in written and spoken English
  •  Flexibility to work evenings/weekends as needed

  • Interviews for shortlisted candidates and finalists will take place throughout November. Should a suitable candidate be found, the search committee reserves the right to close the process.
  • If shortlisted for interview, you will be expected to give a 10 minute presentation demonstrating knowledge of the International School’s market and thoughtful initiatives to ensure our position as the market leader.
  • This position will start at the beginning of the new School Year August 1, 2022.
