Little Ones Think Big at Verita International School, Romania

Our candidates now have another great prospect in the heart of Europe! Verita International School, established in 2012, has joined Search Associates. The school comprises two campuses—a ten-minute walk apart—right in the heart of Bucharest in a residential and business area, a short walk from the underground station, major stores and hotels, and an even shorter walk from the park.

Currently, 180 K–8 students of 11 nationalities follow an academic program based on the National Curriculum of England and Wales. Seventy-five percent of the students come from Romania and 11% from N. America and the U.K., while the teaching staff of 28 includes six from N. America and the U.K., and 15 from Romania. Verita International School is recognized by the Romanian Ministry of Education ARACIP and holds Candidate Status with the Council of British International Schools (COBIS).

The Verita International School philosophy, according to its website, is centered on creativity and the development of self-reliance and personal responsibility, as well as problem-solving and decision-making skills. The curriculum, not based on standardized testing, is crafted to foster students' enthusiasm for learning and their relationships with both the natural and material worlds. With a program integrating the arts, music, and physical movement into the entire curriculum, the school promotes cooperation over competition and imaginative play over media exposure. Also a priority is strengthening students’ leadership potential within a diverse community of children from many nations, races, religions, cultures, and socio-economic backgrounds.

Verita is hiring single teachers and teaching couples with or without dependents, and there are local opportunities for non-teaching spouses. The school will consider exceptional newly-certified candidates, but all teachers must hold an academic degree in the subject they will be teaching. Certified teachers may obtain a work visa at any age, and Verita accepts certification from non-English speaking countries.

An excellent salary and benefits package amounts to a substantial savings potential. Verita International School provides centrally-located, fully-furnished housing of three or four bedrooms, suitable for families. A moving allowance includes airfare and cargo costs. Flights are provided from home at the beginning and end of every two-year contract, and the tuition benefit is determined with each candidate individually. The school says its local healthcare coverage, which includes dental, life insurance, and disability, provides access to “the best private hospital care in Romania.” Finally, Verita International School offers professional development to its staff.
