Senior Associates Ralph Jahr and David Cramer were pleased to announce that the Overseas School of Colombo (OSC), Sri Lanka has chosen Ms. Claire McQuillan to be High School Principal for the 2016-2017 academic year.

Ms. McQuillan holds a B.S. in physics and education from the University of Exeter in the U.K. and an M.A. in International Education from the College of New Jersey in the U.S.A. In addition to prior work in international schools in Hong Kong and in the U.K., Ms. McQuillan has also served as Assistant Head of the Upper School at the International School of Amsterdam in the Netherlands.

OSC remains Sri Lanka's oldest internationally accredited educational institution. Located on a green and spacious campus in a suburb of Colombo, OSC was founded by members of diplomatic missions and the business community. An International Baccalaureate World School, offering all three program levels from elementary school through high school, OSC serves 411 elementary through high school students from 40 nationalities ("Welcome").

The school gained accreditation in 1967 by the International Schools Association in Geneva, Switzerland. In 1983, OSC was accredited by the International Baccalaureate (IB) Organization as an IB World School. Further accreditations came in 1990, from the European Council of International Schools (ECIS) and Middle States Association of Colleges & Schools (MSA). As part of a continuing campus development program, the school constructed a new performing arts facility in 2005, renovated its primary and secondary libraries, and inaugurated a new, state-of-the-art sports facility in 2009 ("Facilities").

Students can choose from after-school activities, as varied as badminton, IT, language enrichment, Model United Nations, football, and Oriental dance. Sports teams compete with other schools in Colombo as well as in the South Asian Inter-Schools Association (SAISA) Sports Conference. Students travel to vie in swim, basketball, soccer, and track and field to different countries, such as India, Nepal and Bangladesh. OSC hosts these events as well ("Students").

Search Associates wishes Ms. McQuillan the very best as she joins the large team of culturally diverse administrators, teachers, and support staff in the prestigious OSC community.
