Overseas Teaching at a Top-Ranked British School in Dubai

Dubai British School Jumeirah Park (DBSJP) is a day school founded in 2015 and located in the Jumeirah Park area, a green suburb five kilometers from Dubai Marina and 17 kilometers from Dubai centre.

Fully accredited by British Schools in the Middle East, the Council of British International Schools, British Schools in the Middle East, and Penta International, DBSJP was awarded an overall rating of “very good” in 2020 by Dubai’s regulatory authority for education, Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA). The school delivers the full UK National Curriculum from Early Years through A Levels along with the International General Certificate of Secondary Education. Currently enrolled are 1,831 pre-K through Year 13 students of 82 nationalities! The total teaching staff of 120 represents 10 nationalities and includes three local educators.

Primary and secondary students enjoy their own dedicated and separate learning environments. Primary school facilities include laboratories for science and ICT; a library; studios for art, drama, and dance; music and practice rooms; a Year 1 Outdoor Learning Area; PE Hall; and separate rooms for learning and language support and general activities. The secondary school features an Innovation Centre supporting STEM learning; a library; laboratories for science and ICT; studios for drama, dance, and art; music/recording and practice rooms; learning and language support rooms; Design Technology Suite; and Sixth Form Centre.

Most sports facilities are shared: the 8-lane pool and training pool, the multi-purpose sports hall, Fitness Suite, football pitches and tennis courts as well as indoor and outdoor play areas. Other shared spaces include the 550-seat Performing Arts Theatre, the school radio station, Food Technology Laboratory, the dining room, shaded outdoor learning spaces, and two health centres.

DBSJP currently provides students with a limited array of extracurricular activities on site due to the pandemic. However, the school has been able to connect students with external providers for the following: rhythmic gymnastics; performing arts; tennis; swimming; mixed martial arts; basketball; netball; football; volleyball; athletic sports; badminton; chess; Mandarin; Programming, Robotics, and Engineering; STEM; and science.

DBSJP can hire certified single and married teachers and would also consider couples with non-teaching partners, newly-certified candidates, and interns. Teachers must possess an academic degree in the subject they will be teaching. Those up to the age of 58 may obtain a work visa.

The benefits package includes a non-taxed salary and allowances for moving, furniture, and monthly housing. Tuition is free for up to two children. Worldwide health insurance—except for the U.S.— is fully covered. This package allows for some savings, and there are local employment opportunities for non-teaching partners.
