Hong Kong International School (HKIS) prepares students for future challenges by incorporating academic excellence with technology, cross-cultural understanding, spirituality, and social responsibility. We offer a coeducational program for students from Pre-K to 12 (age 4-18), providing an American-style curriculum to US and international students and with English as the language of instruction. As a Christian school with an international outlook, HKIS is sensitive to the needs of its culturally and religiously diverse community of more than 40 nationalities represented among over 2,600 students.

Principal – Middle School, August 2009
Provide overall leadership in carrying out the school’s educational mission as stated in the Mission Statement, ensuring the highest quality of education is delivered and HKIS Student Learning Results are achieved.

The Middle School Principal is an educational leader who communicates and enables faculty and staff to achieve the school's vision of successfully providing high quality education for students from Grade 6-8. This vision is within the framework of the school's mission, which recognizes the school’s Christian grounding and the cultural and religious diversity of our student body. To realize the vision, the Principal works collaboratively with faculty and parents to meet student needs, monitors progress toward school goals and fosters a sense of community.

Requirements

  • Advanced degree and/ or certification in educational leadership or administration.
  • Has managed a team of 20 or more faculty, preferably in an American educational system environment.
  • Experience in an international school setting with proven success working with a diverse student population from a wide variety of cultural, social and religious backgrounds.
  • Solid conceptual and applied knowledge of current research and trends in middle school education, curriculum development, assessment for instruction, literacy, second language learning
  • Strong curriculum development and evaluation skills. Has successfully carried out a major program of development change.
  • An effective manager. Conversant and practised in various approaches to improving educational instruction and school operation. Demonstrated ability to effectively manage & multi-task within a demanding, dynamic and changing environment.
