Director of Human ResourcesJob Description
Participate in the culture of learning, collaboration and professional teaming that exists school-wide for the primary purpose of ensuring SAS human resources is focused on supporting student learning. Possess a comprehensive understanding of human resources and demonstrate having provided leadership in this area of responsibility. Oversee school-wide development, refinement, implementation and evaluation of all human resource functions, including but not limited to:
union agreement compensation employee insurance housing air transportation payroll new and departing staff relocation retirement recruiting - permanent and substitute staff members local taxes employment passes
development of human resources policies and administrative regulations Exhibit an understanding of and high degree of support for best practices in human resources. Annually develop and implement human resource objectives focused on continuous improvement and aligned with the SAS Strategic Plan. Frequently monitor competitiveness of the compensation and benefits package and use this information to guide the further development of action plans focused on meeting SAS’ competitive targets for compensation. Make specific recommendations for enhancements and improvements in human resources taking into consideration current best practices and SAS’ specific needs. Actively participate in leadership team consultation and decision-making in regards to school-wide action plans. Actively engage through collaboration with the leadership team in the recruitment, selection, orientation, supervision, development and evaluation of the all staff. Coordinate and supervise all central office human resources staff. Collaborate with all central office departments and staff members in meeting school-wide needs. Provide leadership to a comprehensive communication plan to ensure effective and useful communication with leadership team members, staff members, and board members on human resource topics or issues. Collaborate with the Director of Finance in providing data in support of the annual development of a budget in support of compensation and benefit packages. Consistently model the core values of compassion, fairness, honesty, respect and responsibility. Represent SAS with parents, staff members, and the broader school community in a professional manner. Recognize and strengthen personal performance through feedback and self reflection, participation in professional development activities, exploration of research in best practices and participation in professional organizations.
Timeline Applications will be reviewed as received and short-listed candidates will be invited to Singapore for on campus interviews in mid-to-late January 2010. SAS anticipates an appointment for this position in early February 2010.
