The Position
The High School Principal is the educational leader of this division. The principal is responsible for the effective and efficient organization of this division; for focusing on the quality of instruction and student learning results; for working with teachers and evaluating instruction; for efficient budget management and for the quality of student life. The Principal is a member of the School’s Administrative Team and reports to the Director.
Guangzhou
Guangzhou is better known as "Canton", the heart of Cantonese culture. It is the third largest city in China and the largest in South China (population ~10 million). Guangzhou is located just over the border from Hong Kong and is a great travel hub for exploring South-East Asia. Guangzhou is a large modern Asian city, with all modern amenities but also with opportunities to explore fascinating backstreets and discover "real Canton". Guangzhou’s Baiyun International Airport has direct flights to Europe as well as to cities throughout Asia. It is two hours by train from Hong Kong.
AISG
Founded in 1981, the American International School of Guangzhou (AISG) is fully accredited by WASC and offers International Baccalaureate Primary Years and Diploma Programmes (PYP and DP, respectively). The school grew rapidly during the 90s and into the new century, culminating in the Middle and High Schools moving to a separate new campus in the Fall of 2007. AISG’s current enrollment is 957 and the high school enrolls 281 students, grades 9 through 12.
The Hiring Process: DEADLINE: Monday, October 11, 2010
Prior to forwarding one’s documents, all candidates are asked to review AISG’s web site (www.aisgz.org) to become familiar with the school. Candidates are urged to carefully review the school’s posted critical needs and issues and to use their cover letter to explain how their skills, training and experience align with our school’s needs.
Send a cover letter (2 pages); a resume/CV (2 pages) and the names of at least four (4) professional references preferably individuals to whom you directly report or recently reported. Contact information should include: referee’s name and position, work address, phone (work, cell and home), and email address. Include a passport-sized low-resolution photo. When sending these documents via email, scan all information into one (1) PDF file.

All final candidates, and as appropriate spouses, will visit the school likely at the same time as this approach usually equalizes the interview process. It is our intention to fill this position by mid November 2010.
The selected candidate will return to AISG during the second semester as part of the high school leadership transition.
AISG reserves the right to conclude the search prior to the announced deadline.
The successful candidate will assume the position around mid July 2011.
