Shaikha Hessa Girls' School
Kingdom of Bahrain

Seeks a Vice-Principal (female)

The Shaikha Hessa Girls’ School was established in September 2001 as the first private, all girls’ school in Bahrain. The school emphasises academic excellence and traditional, Islamic values. Following an American curriculum, the school fosters creative, independent and critical thinking to prepare students to be the leaders of tomorrow.

Recently, the Shaikha Hessa Girls’ School celebrated two major milestones, the first being the International Baccalaureate authorization, and the second the Middle States Association for Colleges and Schools (MSA) team visit.

The school boasts state-of-the-art facilities with a central dome connecting three wings, the Administration, Elementary and Middle/High school. The dome serves as an all-purpose meeting place for the students. The Elementary building houses a computer lab, science lab, and a home economics lab, in addition to ten classrooms. The Administration building houses the media center and an audio-visual room. Next to the central building is a separate Kindergarten building with a large Activities Hall, large classrooms and its own playground. On the other side of the central building is the cafeteria and separate Multi-Purpose Hall that includes Physical Education facilities and a professional stage. A brand new two-storey building houses the High School, with twelve classrooms, a computer lab, home economics, biology, chemistry and physics labs and a two-storey library.

The school maintains a low teacher-student ratio, and gives its teachers every incentive for professional growth and development.

The school aims to establish a home-school partnership that will promote leadership and academic excellence, and provide a healthy, secure environment for students to become lifelong learners and to reach their fullest potential as individuals and global citizens, with an emphasis on Islamic and traditional values.

Shaikha Hessa Girls’ School is looking for a highly qualified Vice-Principal. The Vice-Principal will have various administrative duties, focusing mainly on matters relating to accreditation, the International Baccalaureate Diploma and teachers’ performance appraisal. Knowledge and experience of the International Baccalaureate is necessary, as well as some school leadership experience, a successful track record in a multi-cultural setting, a passion for international education, as well as high-level communication and intercultural skills.

Suitably qualified candidates should send their CV/resume and a short application letter, as email attachments, to David Cope of Search Associates in the first instance (dr.cope@virgin.net) – not directly to the school - AS SOON AS POSSIBLE AND NO LATER THAN 25 JULY 2010.

Closing date: 25 July 2010
