Search San Francisco Fair 2024

Jen (L) with International Bilingual School at Hsinchu-Science-Park recruitersThis February 3rd and 4th, 70 overseas teaching candidates and recruiters from nearly 30 schools gathered for the Search San Francisco Job Fair. The Westin San Francisco, just one mile from the San Francisco airport, provided a cozy setting for this collegial, boutique-sized fair. It made a perfect contrast to the storm outside. Fair hosts, Senior Associates Jen and Bob Imholt say, "Although Mother Nature was conspiring against us, we were grateful to the intrepid candidates and recruiters who braved an atmospheric river and severe weather event to attend."

Determined to attend an in-person fair and prove herself “the best candidate for international education,” Juliana Marulanda Quintero traveled all the way from Colombia to San Francisco for the “opportunity to be close to the real scenario of the schools.” She was hired at A’Takamul International School!

Executive Assistant Jim Albers and retired Senior Consultant Julie Ryan were on hand to offer support and lead workshops, Julie’s on “Interview Tips for Success,” and Jim’s on “Moving Overseas.”

During the short weekend, participants scheduled 100 interviews to discuss some of the 250 international teaching vacancies posted. Recruiters commented on the top-notch quality of our candidates, and dozens of offers were made. Amberly Young says,

This was my first time at a Search Associates job fair, and I felt comfortable from the beginning. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming. I was able to be connected to a school in Mexico which aligned with my experience and interests. I am excited to start teaching third grade [at American School Foundation of Monterrey] in the fall!

Alexa Humberson, hired at the International School of Bangkok, had this to say:

Attending the in-person job fair was a game changer for me. The ability to talk to so many really cool international schools and network with them was amazing. All the recruiters were friendly and the focus for everyone really seemed to be finding the best fit for candidates and schools, which ultimately will be what’s best for students!
