Dear Colleagues,

On behalf of Mr. Daniel Eschtruth, Director of Schools at Shanghai Community International School, China, we are pleased to announce the appointment of Ms. Kristi Dahlstrom as Director of Student Support Services beginning in August 2022.  She is currently serving as the Director of Special Education within the Marin County Office of Education, San Rafael, California. Her appointment has been shared with the SCIS school community.

In Kristi’s current position, she oversees thirty regionalized special education classrooms and 160 staff members throughout Marin County providing special education services.  She is responsible for budget oversight of regionalized special education classrooms and provides county-wide para educator trainings and other trainings offered through the Marin County Office of Education.  She led the development of health and safety protocols in consultation with Marin Public Health to open classrooms beginning in May 2020 during the COVID pandemic.  Marin County’s reopening plan become the blueprint for the State of California’s reopening plans.

Kristi earned her B.S. in Education (Special Education) from the University of Missouri and an M.S. in Education (Special Education) from California State University.  She completed her Administrative Credential through the Leadership Program at the University of North Carolina, Charlotte North Carolina.   She is married to Kurt Dahlstrom and her son, Holden is in Middle School.
