A holistic education is provided that encourages high standards of academic achievement, meaningful collaboration, and personal development, while supporting the unique needs of each learner. We encourage the expression of multiple perspectives in a safe and nurturing learning environment, such that the cultural identity of each student is valued. We prepare students to contribute to and thrive in a multicultural society. We support students in the development of skills and learning strategies. Students are encouraged to take responsibility for their own learning and well-being. Learning explicitly addresses guided and independent inquiry and investigations, skill development, and thinking strategies for finding solutions to the complex challenges posed in developing a sustainable and peaceful world.
Our habit of instilling brave curiosity and diligent effort has enabled AISE to thrive as Cairo’s largest operating PreK-12 American academic institution and our new campus will be no different. This legacy is known far beyond Cairo, helping to affirm AISE as one of the best schools and its students as many of the best in the country, decade after decade. Our coursework, from Pre-Kindergarten through grade twelve, provides meaningful and challenging opportunities for both individual and communal achievement. We empower students with the desire and the means to reach their highest potential.
ACCREDITATION AND CURRICULUM
AISE offers a full K-12 American curriculum, taught in English by a highly motivated faculty of certified and experienced teachers. The curriculum is designed to prepare students for entry into universities in the United States, Canada, Europe, the Middle East, and elsewhere.
The school’s curriculum includes a full complement of arts, drama, music, foreign languages, and athletic programs, and our students enjoy a broad range of extra-curricular activities. The school’s sports teams, as well as groups such as the Model United Nations Club, travel regularly to take part in international tournaments and other events.
With a mission “to inspire students to be lifelong learners who contribute positively to a diverse and changing world,” the school offers students unparalleled opportunities to undertake problem-solving and exploration via hands-on activities.
AISE seeks to develop students who combine proven academic ability, intellectual curiosity, and persistence with decency and good character. At AISE, exacting inquiry and thoughtful discourse foster the life of the mind, instruction and activity promote fitness and health, and the daily interactions of faculty and students nurture integrity and kindness.
Because learning and growth at AISE arise from each individual’s engagement with others, the richness of education here requires diversity in all its dimensions; students and faculty value the differences they bring to the community they share.
The challenges that students meet at AISE and the support they receive have a common purpose: to stimulate their development as individuals and as members of society. AISE seeks to graduate young people whose creativity and independence of thought sustain their continuing inquiry and reflection, whose interest in others and the world around them surpasses their self-concern, and whose passion for learning pushes them beyond what they already know.
At AISE we challenge our students to engage deeply in learning, appreciate one another, and grow into adults who are intellectually adventurous, ethically surefooted, and generous of heart and spirit.

The teachers at AISE are predominantly North American, with the exception of some specialist teachers and native speakers of Arabic, French, and Spanish who teach language classes.

CAIRO, EGYPT
Cairo is a vibrant, exhilarating, fascinating and welcoming city. Home to many of the best Pharaonic, Coptic and Islamic sites in Egypt, it is a city where you never know what incredible, half-forgotten monument you might stumble upon while wandering around town. Cairo residents can enjoy evenings on the Nile River, visits to the capital’s medieval markets by Khan El-Khalili, and walks along the Nile promenade. There are also many remarkable museums, art galleries, cinemas, theaters and modern malls. On any given week, one can attend an opera or enjoy oriental music dance shows, as well as see the Giza Pyramids and thousands of ancient artifacts at the Egyptian Museum of Antiquities.
The weather in Cairo is moderate with low humidity at almost any time of the year. Highs of 37°C are common in July and lows of 21°C have been witnessed. The winter months in Cairo are very pleasant with temperatures ranging between 12°C and 20°C. Egypt offers fantastic opportunities for domestic travel to the beaches and coral reefs of Sinai and the Red Sea coast, and incredible ancient historical sites like the ancient temples and the Valley of Kings in Luxor. Opportunities for international travel are also excellent thanks to Cairo’s proximity to some of the world’s best tourist destinations in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.
