Jane McGee Appointed as the new Head of UNIS Hanoi
Search Associates joins the School Board of the United Nations International School Hanoi to announce the appointment of Jane McGee as the 8th Head in the history of the school. Ms McGee will assume leadership from Dr. Chip Barder, who will be retiring after ten years at UNIS in 2018.
Ms McGee is currently the Director of the Vientianne International School, Laos. She brings to UNIS Hanoi a unique combination of leadership skills, experience and style that will safeguard the future of UNIS Hanoi as the school of choice in Vietnam and ensure that students continue to receive only the best possible opportunities for learning.
Her natural alignment to the School’s Values, Mission and Vision and the clarity, precision and ease with which she communicates so effectively with every community group will serve her and the School well as she builds relationships both within the UNIS Hanoi community and with the wider Vietnamese community.
She will be joined by her husband, Dr Brian Chanen, who is an experienced HS English Teacher, and their daughter Gabriele, who will be entering grade 10 in August 2018. Their other child, Cassie, who will graduate from Vientiene International School this year, will enter university in Canada in August 2017.
Ms McGee’s wrote to the community: “I am so excited and honoured to have the opportunity to join the UNIS Hanoi community and to becoming part of the team that will build on the strengths of the past as the school continues its journey forward. The passion and commitment of the community to doing what is best for students was the underlying theme that I took away from my visit. This together with the school’s strong sense of identity aligned with the principles of the United Nations and the Mission of the school were just some of the highlights. I am looking forward to deepening my understanding of UNIS Hanoi as I work with the Board and Dr. Barder during the transition.”
