Search Associates, along with the Vientiane International School (VIS) Board of Trustees is extremely pleased to announce the appointment of Ms. Elsa Donohue as the new Head of School starting in the fall of 2018.
The Board believes her values, experience and thoughtfulness strongly align with the VIS mission to challenge, inspire and prepare learners for life. Throughout the selection process Elsa exhibited a dynamic leadership style, strong communication and listening skills and a keen understanding of the opportunities and challenges for strengthening the quality of education at VIS. Elsa’s professional philosophy centers around the belief that children are competent learners with an innate curiosity about the world.
Elsa is currently Head of Division Primary at Jakarta Intercultural School (JIS). She brings more than three decades of experience in driving innovative and student centered learning as well as developing leadership capacities within international schools.

The Board of Trustees has appointed Search Associates (Nick Kendell), to act as a consultant in the search for a new Head of School. The deadline for application is April 14, 2017. Long-listed candidates will be interviewed by Skype. A short list of candidates, with partners, if appropriate, will have the opportunity to meet with faculty, parents, students and non-teaching sta? in Vientiane. The Board hopes to make an appointment no later than September 2017.
Candidates should send the information requested below. It must be submitted EXACTLY in the form and manner requested. Please DO NOT send any information, other than that which is specifically requested:
- A letter of application, no longer than two pages, explaining your strengths as a candidate and why you are interested in this particular position.
- A current resume not to exceed two pages.
- A one-page statement outlining educational beliefs and leadership style.
- 3 references with phone numbers and email contact details.
- A maximum of four letters of reference which may already be in your possession.
