Dear Search Associates Colleagues,

On behalf of the Advanced Learning Schools, we are pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Liam Browne as the Superintendent at the Advanced Learning Schools (ALS) in Saudi Arabia beginning in August 2024.  

Dr. Browne is currently in his third year as the Head of School at the Franconian International School in Germany. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in History, Sociology and English from Maynooth University (Ireland), a Diploma in Education from Maynooth University (Ireland), a Master of Arts in History from Maynooth University (Ireland), a PhD in History from Trinity College Dublin (Ireland), a MEd in International Education from Endicott College (USA), and a Post Certificate in Education (Grades 3-6) from the University of Sunderland (UK).

Due to his professional and personal qualities, as well as his broad administrative and curricular experiences, Dr. Browne was selected from a strong group of qualified applicants. In his recent message to the ALS school community, on behalf of the ALS Board of Trustees, Mr. Feda Al Khatib shared the following about Dr. Browne’s candidacy and appointment: Dr. Browne comes highly recommended by educational experts who know him well, and professionals who had worked with him for many years.  Liam had successfully led many

International Schools as he has the knowledge and skills to excel. We are certain that he will be able to contribute highly to lead ALS effectively to the next futuristic chapter.

Dr. Browne’s previous leadership experience includes serving as Director at the International School of Ulm/Neu-Ulm in Germany from August 2016 to July 2021, High School Principal at the International School of Stavanger in Norway from August 2012 to June 2016,  Director of Studies at St Nicholas School in São Paulo, Brazil from July 2010 to July 2012, and High School Principal and IB DP Coordinator at the Franconian International School in Germany from August 2005 to July 2010.

Dr. Browne looks forward to serving as the next Superintendent for the Advanced Learning Schools. In response to his new appointment, Dr. Browne shared:  I feel deeply honored and excited to embark on this journey with the Advanced Learning Schools (ALS). This opportunity aligns with my lifelong commitment to fostering educational excellence in diverse settings. I’m excited to contribute to ALS’s mission to create a nurturing environment that celebrates diversity and promotes a deep appreciation for the rich cultural heritage of Saudi Arabia. I am eager to contribute to our shared vision of preparing students to navigate the complexities of the modern world, while also empowering them to preserve and honor their unique identities and traditions.

Dr. Browne is enthusiastic about the opportunity to bring his wealth of experience, passion for international education, and dedication to student success to the Advanced learning School. We are hopeful that his background and skills can align with and enhance the aspirations of our school community.

The Board highly appreciates the professional assistance and advice they received from everyone at Search Associates particularly from Dr. Lana Al-Aghbar and Dr. Eric Sands throughout the Search process.
