Upper School Principal
Casablanca American School (Morocco)

Dear Search Associates Colleagues,

On behalf of the Casablanca American School (CAS) in Morocco, we are pleased to announce that Mr. Rick Vanden Boom has been appointed as the new Upper School Principal at CAS beginning in August 2024.  

Mr. Vanden Boom is currently serving in his sixth year as the High School Principal at the American International School of Jeddah in Saudi Arabia. His previous leadership experiences include serving as Principal Grades 6-12 at Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic School in Waterford, MI, from 2015 - 2018 Waterford, Principal at Delta Junction Sr. High School School in  Delta Junction, AK,  from 2014 to 2015, and Principal at Delta Junction Elementary School in Delta Junction, AK, from 2013 to 2014. Mr. Vanden Boom holds a B.S. in Biology, Secondary Education (DA) from Western Michigan University, in Kalamazoo, MI, a  M.Ed. Educational Administration, from Montana State University, in Bozeman, MT, and a Certificate in Leadership and School Management from the Harvard Business School.

The CAS Search Committee selected Mr. Vanden Boom from a strong pool of qualified candidates based on his extensive divisional leadership experience both in the US and Saudi Arabia. Mr. John Randolph, Director of CAS and Chair of the CAS Search Committee shared the following about Mr. Vanden Boom’s candidacy and appointment:

"We are most fortunate to have a seasoned educator and administrator in Rick Vanden Boom joining our school to lead our Upper School division.  We look forward to him becoming part of the CAS legacy."

Mr. Vanden Boom looks forward to serving as the next Upper School Principal at CAS and shared: “I am elated about the opportunity to join the CAS community and build the next foundation for success at this school with such a rich history. I look forward to attacking each day at CAS with an enthusiasm unknown to mankind!”
