AIS Rome: A Global Learning Community in the Heart of Italy

Acorn International School of Rome (AIS or Acorn) invites passionate educators from around the world to be part of a vibrant school community where inquiry, academic challenge, and personal growth thrive. Acorn offers a dynamic dual curriculum that fosters curiosity, creativity, and global citizenship, while nurturing the development of responsible, open-minded, and empathetic lifelong learners.

Located within the green expanse of Vejo Park in northern Rome, the school provides a serene and inspiring setting. The campus includes science laboratories for chemistry, physics and biology, two sports gyms, three playing fields, an auditorium, and generous outdoor spaces. Students benefit from two age-specific libraries staffed by dedicated specialists and a broad range of digital resources that support research and literacy across all year levels.

Acorn is recognized for academic excellence and is accredited by the Italian Ministry of Education as a foreign school. It is also a Cambridge examination center and a candidate school for the International Baccalaureate. The school delivers a bilingual, inquiry-based program alongside the UK national curriculum and offers both General and International Certificates of Secondary Education. Its diverse student body includes 415 students from Pre-K to Year 13, with more than 35 nationalities represented. About 30% of the teaching faculty is Italian , contributing to a rich multicultural learning environment.

Each academic year, students engage in three cross-curricular projects designed to connect learning across disciplines. The culminating school-wide project focuses on global cultures, encouraging students to explore the traditions, cuisines, environments, and stories of communities around the world. A celebration of international understanding is a highlight of the school year.

Student life is equally vibrant outside the classroom. Children in the early years participate in clubs such as Art Lab, Cooking, Forest School, and Football. Older students can pursue musical instruments, take part in a variety of sports, or join academic and creative clubs including chess, coding, drama, Model United Nations, and language enrichment.

AIS welcomes international candidates with a variety of backgrounds, including experienced teachers, recent graduates, and couples with a non-teaching partner.

The school’s benefits package includes annual airfare, a 25% tuition discount for dependent children, and local health insurance (with partial employee contribution). Since joining Ingenium Education in 2023, AIS has become a valued partner of Oxford University for teacher professional development, curriculum innovation, and exam preparation. Staff also benefit from development opportunities with organizations such as the Council of British International Schools and NASA.
