American School on the "Roof of Africa" Chooses Search Associates to Find New Director

Senior Associate, Gez Hayden began his career abroad 23 years ago at the International School of South Africa. Presently, Gez, a Search Associate since 1992, is acting as lead consultant in the search for the new Director of The American International School of Lesotho (AISL). Gez describes his close connection to the country:

"I have visited Lesotho on many occasions since 1992 when I was completing University of Bath (UK) Master’s modules at a Maseru study center. I now regularly visit friends from China living in Maseru, who run the company Africa Clean Energy (ACE). My office of Search Associates has recently sponsored ten of ACE’s Clean-Burn cooking stoves, distributed to needy Basotho families. It is a privilege for me to be involved again with the country, assisting AISL in the leadership search."

Founded in 1991, AISL offers its population of 161 students a pre-school to 10th grade American curriculum. The school’s rigorous academic program is supplemented by field trips, community service programs, and opportunities in sports and the arts. The school serves expatriates and local Basotho communities in Maseru, the capital of Lesotho, also known as the "roof of Africa." AISL prides itself in keeping the student to teacher ratio low and the class sizes small, with a targeted maximum at 16.

AISL is looking to renovate and upgrade its facility while building enrollment, expanding on the excellent work that current, resigning Director, Dwight Mott, has already accomplished during his five years there.

Gez is looking for director candidates who relish the challenge of leading school development. More information on The American International School of Lesotho can be found at the following website: http://www.aisl.co.ls. The deadline for applications is October 7, 2013.
