Search Associates is delighted to announce the appointment of Dr. Amanda Sunderman as the next Director of the American International School of Vilnius (AISV), beginning in the 2025–26 academic year. Jason Brown, Chair of the School Board and U.S. Embassy representative, recently shared the news while expressing gratitude to the AISV community for their support throughout the search process:
The AISV Board is looking forward with great anticipation to Dr. Sunderman’s tenure. We are excited for the future of AISV under her capable leadership and vision… confident that her leadership will bring continued growth and success to our institution.
Dr. Sunderman brings a wealth of international leadership experience to AISV. She has served as Head of School at Tarsus American College for the past three years, following four years as Director of Teaching and Learning and Primary Principal at I-Shou International School in Kaohsiung, Taiwan. She shared her enthusiasm for the new role:
There’s a vibrant sense of connection at AISV—a community where everyone comes together to ensure each student feels inspired, supported, and empowered in both well-being and learning. AISV is a small school with a big heart, and it's clear that every member truly belongs. My doctoral research focused on the impact of informal mentoring on feelings of belonging and well-being, and I look forward to supporting this work. I am thrilled to be joining the AISV community!
A passionate educator and lifelong learner, Amanda enjoys spending her free time reading, hiking, traveling, practicing yoga, baking, and engaging in photography—especially microphotography, which she describes as a way to “capture the beauty in overlooked details.” She brings with her not only strong professional credentials but also a deeply humanistic philosophy of leadership:
“In a world where you can be anything, be kind." Whether it’s a brief greeting or a lasting relationship, every interaction matters. When we lead with kindness, we recognize the humanity in one another—and to truly see and be seen is a powerful thing.
