Dr. Christina Botbyl Appointed New Chief Academic Director / Principal of George Washington Academy

On behalf of the Board of Directors of George Washington Academy (GWA) in Casablanca, Morocco, Search Associates is very happy to announce that Dr. Christina Botbyl has been selected as the new Chief Academic Director / Principal. Dr. Botbyl will join GWA in August 2023, and work alongside newly appointed Head of School Dr. Wendy Rubin.

Dr. Botbyl holds a Bachelor of Arts in French and English from Alma College, Michigan, U.S.; a Master of Science in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, U.S.; and a Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership from Wilkes University, Pennsylvania, U.S. Since 2021, Dr. Botbyl has been serving as the Head of MiniPD Coach Community of the Faria Education Group, of which she is also a founding team member. The scope of her responsibilities includes recruiting international educators and leaders to serve as virtual coaches to support educators around the globe. Dr. Botbyl has extensive teaching experience both in the U.S. and internationally, and she served as the pre-K–12 Curriculum Director at the American International School Kuwait from 2011 to 2021.

Incoming Director Dr. Rubin shared,

I am thrilled that Dr. Christina Botbyl will be joining the GWA team!  Her experience as an instructional leader is deep and varied. She has successfully built numerous structures and processes that develop and support professional instructional practice and student achievement. I know that we will greatly benefit from Dr. Botbyl's knowledge and expertise.

Through her role at GWA, Dr. Botbyl will work on developing the curricular programs and enhancing the quality of teaching and learning practices. These are areas of expertise for Dr. Botbyl, and she looks forward to engaging in this work at GWA. Dr. Botbyl shared,

I am excited to lead the ongoing development of a dynamic teaching and learning community where professionals flourish and where the academic success and well-being of every learner is underpinned by a future-focused mission.
