High Ideals at Mirdif Private School

More opportunities for our candidates have opened up in Dubai! Mirdif Private School (MPS) has joined Search Associates. Founded in 1995, the school uses an American curriculum to serve both international expatriates and Arabic communities. Currently enrolled are 915 K–8 students of 45 nationalities, 65% of whom are from the U.A.E and 2% from North America. The teaching staff of 75 includes 24 from North America and the U.K. MPS is in the accreditation process with both the Council of International Schools and the New England Association of Schools and Colleges. The school’s holistic educational objectives are as follows:

“. . . to inspire “high ideals” and motivate in children academic achievements and to show understanding in coping with the pressures of modern life.”

In 2009, MPS relocated to a 15,000-square-meter landscaped campus, designed with input from both staff and students. The school is now in a suburban neighborhood, directly behind a small shopping center and five minutes from a major shopping mall. Its campus comprises two main buildings—a kindergarten and an elementary/intermediate building—housing a total of 35 classrooms, a fully-equipped computer lab, science labs, a remedial reading room, a library and resource center, a music room, an art studio, a conference room, and a multi-purpose hall. Sports and outdoor facilities include a swimming pool, general playing field, football field, as well as basketball and volleyball courts.

MPS is open to hiring singles and married teaching couples, with or without dependents. Though not currently hiring interns, the school is considering developing an intern program. Teachers must be certified by an English-speaking country and hold an academic degree in the subject they will be teaching. However, outstanding newly-certified teachers will be considered. Work visas are issued up to the age of 65.

A competitive salary and benefits package could yield some savings or the opportunity for a family of four to live on one salary. A moving allowance and furnished housing is provided by the school. Teachers receive one annual round-trip airfare home and a 50% discount on their children’s tuition. Local health insurance is fully covered, and teachers will receive professional development. Finally, there are local opportunities for non-teaching spouses.
