International Teachers: Lead the Future of Education with Brookes CIL in Kyiv

Scheduled to open August 2022, Brookes CIL International School (Brookes CIL) is a globally connected, K-12 international day school in Kyiv, Ukraine, offering a world-class education opportunity for 700+ international and local students. Brookes CIL is the ninth leading center of education as a result of the joint efforts of CIL International and Brookes Education Group. The school is centrally located in the heart of the historic city of Kyiv, the 7th most populous city in Europe and a monument of great beauty and sustainability.

The easily accessible school sits nestled among prestigious administrative, educational, research, and cultural institutions founded in the neighborhood, including two universities, several theaters and governmental headquarters—including Parliament and the offices of the President of Ukraine. Due to the significance of its neighbors, the area is under strict security and is a safe school zone.

Brookes CIL has been designed as the Brookes flagship school in Europe and a leading center for international education for sister schools established in Canada, the U.S., the UK, Russia, and India. Brookes CIL is a next-generation candidate school for the International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Programme, Middle Years Programme, and Diploma Programme.

With its leadership, vision, approaches, and facilities, Brookes CIL aims to attract a culturally diverse student and teaching community to Ukraine and make a powerful and positive impact on expanding undergraduate education opportunities for all students, both locally and globally. Founding Head of School and industry leader spearheading the development of International Baccalaureate World Schools, Kevin Skeoch says,

What inspires me as a leader in education and the founding Head of Brookes CIL is the ability to create a future for learning. Leadership, for me, is the ability to help others to move the world forward. And this is one of the highest aspirations to be given. It is also a tremendous responsibility. Fortunately, I am not alone. Teachers make all the difference.

Because Brookes CIL will foster an inclusive, supportive, and connected community to enrich student learning experiences, it will offer a specialized program distinctive to the school: The Future Center. There, one-on-one and small group support will be offered along with personalized learning and supplementary programs. The Future Center will also allow students to enhance special interests, strengthen areas of weakness, improve overall skills—in subject or sport—and provide opportunities for gifted students to seek further learning opportunities.

Encompassing 25,000 square meters, Brookes CIL’s state-of-the-art and architecturally unique facility will be a hub for students to thrive across all subject areas. The campus includes modern, spacious classrooms; dining halls and cafes; two Makerspaces; professional sporting facilities, a performance hall; science labs; multiple IT suites; a cooking hub; music, podcast and editing studios; and specialist teaching environments, which optimize learning with integrated technology. Finally, the school is proud to be Green Certified, with strategic goals to reduce the global carbon footprint, conserve water, reduce waste, use green materials as well as energy-efficient systems to reduce pollution and improve outdoor air quality.

After school, students can explore their passions for the arts, athletics, leadership, and service initiatives. Some of the many choices for extra-curricular activities include chess, product design, visual arts/design, basketball, horseback riding and dressage, Eco-club, Writers Club, Culinary School, Model United Nations, and ski trips.

The Brookes network Global Exchange Program allows students to study at sister schools in Canada, Russia, India, Ukraine, the United Kingdom and the U.S. Students, ages 15-18, may attend the Global Leadership Academy for two weeks of team challenges, fascinating field trips, breathtaking outdoor activities, inspirational guest speakers and new experiences across beautiful Vancouver Island in British Columbia. Canada and Suffolk in the United Kingdom.

Anticipating over 300 students in its first year, Brookes CIL seeks to hire about 30 certified teachers of diverse profiles, including candidates with a non-teaching partner and those who are newly-certified. Teachers must hold an academic degree in the subject they will be teaching. There is no age limit to obtain a work visa.

The benefits package includes a settling-in stipend, monthly housing, and an allowance for annual airfare. Tuition is free for up to two children. Other bonuses include subsidized lunch and after-school programs. On-going professional development is provided. Worldwide health insurance is fully covered. This package is a chance for substantial savings.
