International Teaching Opportunities in Tashkent at Leader School, Uzbekistan

International teaching opportunities await at Leader School Lider Bolalar Maktabi (LBM), a private school in Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan, serving students from pre-K through Grade 12 through the national curriculum alongside its developing International Baccalaureate (IB) programmes. Established in 2002, LBM is located about five kilometers from the city center in a quiet, low-rise residential neighborhood.

Tashkent offers international educators an exciting opportunity to experience life in a modern, rapidly developing Central Asian capital. With a population of approximately three million, the city features international restaurants, shopping centers, parks, and cultural attractions. Tree-lined streets and residential neighborhoods surround the school, while convenient public transportation makes exploring the city accessible.

Uzbekistan’s four distinct seasons bring warm summers and mild winters. Although Tashkent is landlocked, educators can easily explore the country’s mountains, valleys, and historic Silk Road cities, including Samarkand and Bukhara, making the region an appealing base for weekend and holiday travel.

LBM’s 7,000-square-meter campus provides a range of modern learning and recreational facilities. In addition to bright classrooms, a gymnasium, and a library for students of all ages, the campus includes technology-equipped science labs, a large theatre, computer labs, an arts and crafts room, and an outdoor sports court. Younger students have access to a tree-lined playground with colorful play structures and a small above-ground pool, while students across the school can enjoy outdoor gathering spaces with picnic tables beneath gazebos and sunshades.

Leader School LBM currently follows the Montessori Method in the early years and is pursuing authorization for the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) and Middle Years Programme (MYP). While 92% of students and 95% of staff are from Uzbekistan, the school is committed to expanding its international team while fostering a welcoming and professionally supportive environment for both international and local educators.

LBM students participate and excel in academic Olympiads and sporting competitions while also engaging in meaningful environmental initiatives. The school’s commitment to environmental education is reflected in the students’ work:

This school year, our students implemented 27 environmental projects and initiatives, ranging from research as part of the PYP Exhibition to everyday environmental habits. 380 kg of wastepaper, 137+ batteries, 86 seedlings, 45 new trees on the school grounds—every figure represents a conscious choice and real action by our children. We believe that environmental education is not a one-time event, but a way of thinking that develops from an early age. That's why caring for the planet has become a part of everyday school life, from class projects to family habits.

Leader School LBM seeks certified and experienced educators and welcomes applications from individual teachers and married couples, including those with a non-teaching spouse. Teachers do not need to hold an academic degree in the subject they teach, and there is no age limit in Uzbekistan for obtaining a work visa.

The benefits package includes a non-taxed salary, monthly housing, annual airfare, and fully covered local health insurance.
