Jeffrey Duckett Named Head at AIS in Niger

Senior Associates Dr. Ralph Jahr and Dr. David Cramer have announced that the American International School of Niamey (AISN), in Niamey, Niger has appointed Mr. Jeffrey Duckett as its new director for the 2016-2017 academic year.

Mr. Duckett is currently Deputy Head of School at Khartoum International Community School (KICS) in Khartoum, Sudan. He was previously Director of Technology at KICS before being appointed Deputy Head of School. He has also held teaching and administrative positions in Dubai, UAE and in Cairo, Egypt. Mr. Duckett earned a B.A. in Humanities from San Francisco State University in California, as well as graduate degrees and certifications from Notre Dame de Namur University in California, Ashford University in Iowa, and Johns Hopkins University in Maryland.

AISN, established in 1982 and fully accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools (MSA), currently has 95 pre-K-12 students of 19 different nationalities. Members of this truly multi-cultural school enjoy the benefit of close teacher-student relationships and attention to diverse needs in classes of multi-age groups.

AISN is a member of the Association of International Schools in Africa (AISA). In addition to having a well-developed curriculum, it excels in three areas: community-based education, which includes a garden; a cooperative learning atmosphere; and its after-school activities program. The structure of the facility and the guard staffing provide ample round-the-clock security for the campus. In addition to its main buildings housing six classrooms, art and music rooms, a library, science lab, and an iMac computer lab, the campus includes a playground, two soccer fields, and basketball and volleyball courts. AISN’s website adds,

"The school also manages the American International School of Niamey Recreational Center (AISNRC), which is located on site and features a large outdoor swimming pool, tennis court, softball field, a video rental club, a small lending library, a TV room and lounge, and snack bar. AISN students and faculty are members of the Recreational Center. This provides them access to the facility during after-school hours and on weekends."

Search Associates congratulates Mr. Duckett and the American International School of Niamey on their new partnership.
