Learning Without Borders: Discover The International School of Navarra in Northern Spain

The International School of Navarra (ISN), located in the picturesque Egüés Valley in Gorraiz, Spain, offers educators a unique opportunity to join a close-knit international community in one of northern Spain’s most scenic and culturally rich regions. Just a short drive from the historic city of Pamplona, ISN combines the charm of a peaceful countryside setting with easy access to urban amenities.

Founded in 2010 as The British School of Navarra, ISN is the only international school in the region and the sole provider authorized to deliver the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme in English. With a strong academic foundation rooted in the British education system and full accreditation from both UK and Spanish authorities, the school prepares students to succeed at leading universities around the world. A bilingual, personalized approach ensures that students not only meet academic benchmarks but also grow into confident, thoughtful global citizens. Classes are designed to nurture curiosity, promote independent thinking, and foster a genuine love of learning.

ISN’s modern campus spans 5,500 square meters and is thoughtfully designed to support student growth and creativity. Facilities include dedicated spaces for art, music, theatre, science, computing, and sports, all set within a green and tranquil environment that encourages focus and exploration. The school’s curriculum is enriched with a wide range of subjects including the arts and physical education, offering students a well-rounded and dynamic educational experience. In addition to the UK programme and IB Diploma, the school also offers the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) and is in the process of accreditation to provide the American high school curriculum.

Community is at the heart of ISN. The school fosters student voice and collaboration through initiatives like its student-run magazine, 1616, published quarterly and featuring articles, interviews, and creative writing that reflect life on campus and beyond. The school also embraces the traditional British House system, with every student assigned to one of four houses—Saxons, Normans, Romans, or Vikings. House points are earned through academic achievement, helpfulness, and participation in school-wide events such as sports competitions, literary contests, and costume days. This system encourages teamwork, leadership, and school spirit across all year levels.

Starting at age 14, students also have the opportunity to participate in The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award, the world’s leading youth development program. Through volunteering, skill development, physical activity, and outdoor expeditions, participants challenge themselves, gain confidence, and develop life skills that extend far beyond the classroom.

ISN is proud to welcome educators from around the world and values diversity in experience and background. The school encourages applications from a wide range of candidates, including teaching couples, newly certified educators, and experienced teachers without certification. An academic degree in the subject area is not required, and there are no age restrictions for obtaining a Spanish work visa.

To support its international teaching staff, ISN offers a relocation allowance and provides free tuition for all dependent children. Teachers also enjoy free daily lunches, as well as transportation, textbooks, and discounted meals and school trips for their children. Comprehensive healthcare is provided through private insurance that includes dental coverage, in addition to full access to Spain’s public health system, which includes long-term disability coverage. Professional development is actively supported, and educators are encouraged to continue growing in their careers.
