Oaks Christian School, California: A Global Community for Inspired Educators

Oaks Christian School (OCS) in Westlake Village, California, USA is a co-educational day and boarding school serving students in grades 4–12. With a commitment to academic excellence, character formation, and personal development—including optional opportunities for spiritual or ethical reflection—OCS welcomes international educators eager to contribute to a vibrant, values-driven learning environment.

Founded in 2000, OCS prepares students for leadership and service through a comprehensive, college-preparatory program. Nearly all graduates go on to university, including many who are accepted into competitive institutions worldwide. The school’s mission—to develop thoughtful, compassionate leaders—resonates throughout the curriculum, co-curricular programs, and community life.

Educators at OCS become part of a collaborative and supportive faculty culture. The school emphasizes strong relationships, shared purpose, and dedication to innovation in teaching and learning. Students benefit from a global perspective through service-learning, international travel, and leadership development, and teachers are encouraged to bring their own international experience and outlook to enrich the school community.

OCS offers five signature academic institutes—Global Leadership, Engineering, Arts & Innovation, Bible and Discipleship, and Health & Science—designed to help students explore their passions in depth. Each institute provides opportunities for mentorship, off-campus excursions, and hands-on experiences that culminate in an independent senior capstone project. The state-of-the-art Idea Lab, a 10,000-square-foot center for Innovation, Design, Engineering, and Aeronautics, equips students with skills relevant to emerging STEM fields.

The school's Southern California location offers a distinctive blend of natural beauty and cultural access. Teachers and students alike enjoy proximity to Los Angeles’ world-renowned museums, universities, media studios, and ethnically diverse neighborhoods. From the coastline of Malibu to the cultural richness of downtown LA, the surrounding region provides rich educational opportunities and a high quality of life.

OCS is accredited by both the Southern Association of Independent Schools and the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. It enrolls more than 1,700 students, with approximately one-quarter coming from outside the United States. Both five-day and seven-day boarding options are available. In addition to traditional in-person instruction, the school offers OC Online, an accredited digital platform that supports blended and distance learning.

The school places equal value on athletics, the arts, and academics. Its competitive sports teams have produced numerous NCAA Division I and professional athletes. The arts faculty are practicing professionals in visual and performing disciplines, guiding students toward artistic achievement at regional and national levels.

OCS welcomes applications from single teachers and teaching couples, including those with a non-teaching partner. The school also considers newly certified educators and those without certification. International candidates are supported through the visa process, and no age limit applies for work authorization in the United States.

The overseas teaching benefits package includes airfare, relocation assistance, subsidized health insurance (including dental, life, disability, and emergency evacuation), contributions to a retirement plan, and tuition assistance. Professional growth is encouraged through ongoing development opportunities. Non-teaching spouses may find employment in the surrounding area.
