Overseas Teaching Positions in Shuangqiao

YueCheng Courtyard Kindergarten (YCCK) is an innovative provider of early childhood education for children located in Shuangqiao, a suburb east of Beijing, with low-rise residential buildings and large parks. Approximately 20 minutes from downtown Beijing, Shuangqiao is easily accessible by public transportation or taxi.

This newly-opened purpose-built school structure literally envelops a 300-year-old Chinese courtyard building, physically linking the traditional wisdom of ancient China with a progressive, forward-looking, modern China. The school building is a bright, modern facility with glass walls allowing unimpeded views of the courtyard building, and featuring a rooftop playground, theater, gymnasium, and an open-plan interior.

YCCK’s philosophy includes strong beliefs in the value of inter-generational learning, mixed-age groupings of children, and a dual language environment of English and Chinese. A unique early childhood curriculum—expertly researched and developed specifically for the Kindergarten—utilizes investigative play as the pedagogy for implementation. Additionally, theirs is a no-boundaries learning environment, with an innovative books-everywhere approach to reading and learning.

YCCK is licensed by the local Ministry of Education. The school launched its first year with nine teachers—five of whom are Chinese and four of whom are from North America and the U.K.—guiding 36 Chinese students, ages 2–6.

The school is interested in hiring interns and certified teachers, including those with a non-teaching partner, and exceptional newly-certified candidates. Teachers must hold an academic degree in the subject they will be teaching. Those up to the age of 60 may obtain a work visa.

As part of its benefits package, YCCK provides new teachers with a fully-furnished apartment and a “starter kit,” comprising bedding, towels, some food staples, and a Carrefour gift card for additional items. From their second year forward, teachers receive a monthly housing allowance. The school covers annual airfare, taking into consideration the cost for spouses and dependents. Up to two children receive full tuition, and teachers receive free lunch and snacks as well as shuttle bus service from a central location to and from the kindergarten. YCCK offers a “healthy and rich professional development program” as well as fully-paid worldwide health coverage. The YCCK package is a chance for great savings or a family of four to live modestly on one salary. Finally, there are local employment opportunities for non-teaching partners.
