Tashkent Welcomes a Teach Abroad Experience

Teach Overseas at Invento the Uzbek International School (IUIS), a very modern school with two campuses located in the center of Tashkent, an economic and cultural center of Central Asia, Uzbekistan. Tashkent Campus caters to the Early Years students while Ashgabat Campus serves Grades 1–10 this year. Both campuses are optimally located, only a 15-minute drive to the center of the city.

Safe, affordable, and comfortable, Tashkent offers a rich art scene and excellent diverse restaurants. The ever-growing city continues to improve its environment and services; for example, the community can now access quality medical care in English. Tashkent enjoys a warm climate, with only a short but cold winter.

Founded in 2020, IUIS is not just a new school. Unique in its mission and vision, the school is dedicated to training the first Uzbek national International Baccalaureate (IB) teachers, in collaboration with its international team. Invento is authorized to offer the IB Primary Years Programme and is a candidate school for the Middle Years Programme and for the Diploma Programme. For the last three years, IUIS has benefitted from this close relationship, based on mutual respect and the desire to learn from one another. IUIS is also proud to be the only international school in the country to provide free education to local staff members. Our school motto is “Every moment is a learning opportunity at Invento” and we live it to the fullest.

Accredited by the Uzbek national curriculum, IUIS is planning to begin the accreditation process through Council of International Schools (CIS) in 2025. The school implements the Uzbek national curriculum within the IB framework, meeting national and international requirements. A proactive, learning support team actively collaborates with students, teachers, and families.

Currently enrolled are 500 students, 450 of whom are Uzbek nationals; however, a small but increasing number of international students have joined the school community. The school’s leadership team is made of local and international members, and 64% of the current teaching staff are from Uzbekistan. Class sizes are small, with a maximum of 17 students per class, creating an ideal learning environment for teaching overseas.

IUIS is the only school in the country that provides Uzbek and Russian A at all levels. The school’s libraries contain over 15,000 texts, with the vast majority in English and a growing number of Uzbek and Russian teaching resources, including digital ones. All secondary students are equipped with a MacBook, and Ipads are available for IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) classrooms, to optimally integrate technology in their practice.

The IUIS extra-curricular program is well-resourced and reviewed each year to meet the evolving needs of the community. The program is broad and based on teachers’ and students’ academic and personal inclinations. For example, IUIS is introducing Model United Nations in the 2023-2024 academic year in the Middle School. The school also has a healthy athletics program, with football, basketball and volleyball, which enables its students to meet peers from other international schools in the city.

IUIS hires experienced, certified educators of diverse profiles wishing to teach abroad, including couples with a non-teaching partner. Candidates must hold an academic degree in the subject they will be teaching. As per government regulations, those up to the age of 60 may obtain a work visa. Our school is the first of its kind in the region and our focus is to educate the first Uzbek IB students and to equip them with the necessary skills to study anywhere in the world. As such we require our teaching teams to take their role with utmost respect and dedication regarding pastoral care and pedagogy.

The overseas teaching benefits package includes a non-taxed salary, a moving allowance, a furnished apartment, and annual airfare. Tuition is free for one child. Domestic health insurance is provided. Invento teachers are lifelong learners and professional development is supported and provided in pastoral care areas and in academics.
