The Aquila School: Soaring High in Dubai’s International Education Landscape

Since opening its doors in September 2018, The Aquila School (TAS) in Dubai has quickly established itself as a dynamic and inclusive international learning community. As the flagship school of the International Schools Partnership (ISP)—a global network of 84 schools across 23 countries—TAS brings to life ISP’s mission to nurture curious, confident learners who love coming to school.

Recognized as “Outstanding” by the British Schools Overseas, TAS continues to earn praise for its commitment to academic excellence, student well-being, and a learning environment that embraces both rigor and joy.

Located in one of the world’s most vibrant cities, TAS boasts impressive facilities designed to support holistic education. These include a well-stocked library, a modern auditorium, dedicated music and art spaces, and specialized labs for design technology, food technology, and ICT. Students also enjoy access to two expansive sports halls and additional athletic facilities that promote physical well-being alongside academic achievement.

With a student body of over 1,300 learners representing 88 nationalities and a fully international faculty, Aquila embraces diversity in all aspects of school life. The school offers the English National Curriculum, adapted to meet the needs of its multicultural community. In Key Stage Four, students pursue a broad range of IGCSEs, GCSEs, and BTECs, while those in Key Stage Five may choose between the International Baccalaureate Diploma or Career Programme, along with additional BTECs and ASDAN pathways.

Educators at TAS are passionate about fostering a love of learning, ensuring that students not only achieve strong academic results but also feel happy and engaged. As the school proudly states, “Our staff work hard to ensure our children love school, love learning and make as much progress as possible.”

Learning continues beyond the classroom through an array of extracurricular opportunities. Students can join after-school clubs, develop their football/soccer skills from Early Years to Year 13, and participate in globally recognized initiatives such as the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award, the World Scholar’s Cup, TEDx events, and Model United Nations. These experiences help students develop confidence and leadership skills, while strengthening their voice in the world.

International trips form a cornerstone of the TAS experience. Each year, students in Year 7 and above travel to destinations that enrich their academic and personal development. Whether engaging in community service in Kenya, exploring space science in Türkiye, discovering classical history in Greece, or skiing in Austria, these immersive journeys help students form lifelong memories while deepening their global understanding.

TAS welcomes applications from qualified international educators, including teaching couples, early-career teachers, and those exploring the overseas teaching field through internships. Candidates must hold a degree in the subject they teach. In line with UAE visa regulations, applicants must be under 60 years of age at the time of employment.

TAS offers a competitive overseas teaching package that includes a tax-free salary, a housing allowance, and full tuition for one child. Professional development is a priority, with opportunities ranging from a thorough induction to tailored training and leadership pathways through NPQ and ISP programs. Local health insurance is fully funded for the educator and two children, and employment opportunities may be available for non-teaching partners.
