Transforming Children’s Lives in the World’s Poorest Communities

Search Associates invites you to help transform the life of a child through education. Join us and United World Schools in making a lasting impact!

“It’s only me and my grandmother in our little house. She is 72 years old but still works - that’s how she gets food for us.” - Kanchi, 10

Kanchi smilingKanchi is 10 years old and lives in rural Nepal. She had no chance to go to school. The nearest government school was too far away, she simply couldn’t travel across the rough terrain.

Then one day, everything changed for Kanchi. UWS built a school near Kanchi’s village, and now she finally has a chance for a better future:

“My favourite subject is Mathematics, I feel great when I’m able to help my friends with their studies too.”

Every child has the right to an education, and just £10 could support a child in school for a whole month. Worldwide, one in every six children are out of school. For children like Kanchi, from the poorest and most marginalised communities, school can feel so out of reach, and Covid-19 has put education even further away for many.

The UN estimates that after the pandemic 24 million children may never return to school, adding to the already devastating numbers of children out of school.

With the support of Search Associates and other global partners, UWS has transformed thousands of lives like Kanchi’s. Through building schools and investing in local communities, they are giving thousands of children living in remote and impoverished villages the chance to go to primary school for the first time in their lives, including delivering remote learning and life-saving PPE during the Covid-19 pandemic.

They have already built 250 schools, trained over 1,000 teachers and reached over 43,000 children in Nepal, Myanmar and Cambodia.

Search Associates knows that children and education have the power to change the world. That’s why we have supported United World Schools (UWS) since 2017 as their charity partner to provide hundreds of children with primary education across Asia. Through our partnership with UWS, Search Associates has already reached hundreds of children and built a school in rural Cambodia for children who previously had no chance to go to school.

The impact of this education will be felt for generations to come. Education breaks the cycle of poverty, empowers entire communities and gives children the opportunity to create their own brighter and more secure futures.

‘’I used to dream of going to school, and now I can! One day I’d like to become a teacher - to earn a good living and give my grandmother a comfortable life.” - Kanchi

Helping children live #HappilyEverSmarter

Search Associates are currently supporting UWS’ new campaign Happily Ever Smarter whereby between 29th April and 29th July 2021, all donations from the UK public will be doubled by the UK Government and will have double the impact for children with no access to education.

The Happily Ever Smarter campaign is raising vital funds to turn dreams into reality for children in some of the world’s most remote and disadvantaged communities, through the power of education. £10 could provide education for a month for one child ...and doubled, we could educate two children!

How you and your school can help

Kanchi with her best friendUWS creates unique and authentic partnerships with schools around the world by linking them with UWS school communities. Partner students learn about the challenges that children face in an out-of-reach community and develop transferable skills and have the chance to make a life-changing impact on a UWS community through fundraising. UWS supports schools with global learning in the classroom, giving young learners the opportunity to think critically about important issues in their world.

UWS’s global partner school community is currently coming together to support the Happily Ever Smarter campaign by pulling a 180 on child poverty.  This appeal is based on the story of 6-year-old Amir, who lives in a remote village in Nepal and walks 180 minutes to and from school every single day clambering up steep hills and through dense vegetation. Students and staff are taking on the 180 Challenge by doing any activity they like - from running 180km, knitting a 180cm-long scarf, to holding a virtual danceathon with 180 friends from school. Every penny raised from the UK public will be doubled by the UK government!

There’s never been a better time to support UWS and help them to reach more communities with life-changing education through their Happily Ever Smarter’ appeal at a time when global education solutions couldn’t be more urgent.

Search Associates invites you to join UWS on a mission to transform the lives of children to bring opportunities to communities and permanently break the cycle of poverty.

#HappilyEverSmarter runs from 29th April to 29th July and the UK government will double all donations from the UK public!
