Vision International School, Qatar

Search Associates welcomes the aptly named Vision International School (VIS) to its catalog of excellent schools around the world. Established in 2014, VIS is housed in a modern, spacious, and beautiful campus located in Al Wakra—a close suburb of Doha, Qatar, in the Arabian Gulf. Lonely Planet describes Doha:

“It’s rare to see a great city in the making these days, but here's your chance. Whether it's the stunning and constantly changing skyline or the massive investment the Qatari authorities are making in landmark cultural icons, this is a city oozing confidence and style, as at ease in its modern shopping malls as in its traditional souqs. Wander the reinvented and fabulously atmospheric Souq Waqif, wonder at the sheer beauty of the world-class Museum of Islamic Art and its exhibits or head out to Katara to explore – wherever you look, Doha is threatening to eclipse Dubai as the Gulf's most dynamic city.”

VIS is a separate-gender, college preparatory school owned by the renowned Almuftah Group and managed by International Schools Services (ISS), which has been providing support for international schools for more than 50 years. ISS regularly convenes school heads—virtually and in person—to address common challenges, share best practices, and provide targeted leadership development, so VIS is able to provide a research-based, world-class educational experience for the entire school community.

VIS offers the U.S. Common Core Curriculum and a choice of Advanced Placement (AP) courses at the secondary level. At present, 545 pre-K through Grade 12 students are enrolled, 85% of whom are Qatari and approximately 4% of whom are from North America or the U.K. The school is proud to cater to a total of 26 nationalities from around the globe. VIS’s teaching staff of 68 includes 38 from North America and two from the U.K.

While the curriculum trains students to learn independently and to solve problems creatively, VIS’s mission also includes “instill[ing] a sense of ethics, care and compassion for others through engagement in community service and global citizenship.” Additionally, VIS’s after-school activities allow students to express themselves through fine arts, athletics, and a wide range of other activities. There is something for every interest and grade level, such as storytelling, Zumba, basketball, soccer, swimming, science investigations and experiments, Quran study, hip hop dance, Spanish club, creative writing, and much more.

VIS is interested in hiring singles and married teaching couples. Teachers must be certified and hold their academic degree in the subject they will be teaching. The school will also consider newly-certified candidates with outstanding personal qualities. Certified teachers up to the age of 60 may obtain a work visa.

The VIS salary and benefits package offers great savings potential. All teachers are provided with a fully-furnished apartment, commensurate to family size, in a brand new building. The school pays utilities as well. VIS will also cover full tuition for one child per teacher. VIS provides a moving and settling-in allowance as well as a generous annual stipend for professional development, subject to approval. The school pays a percentage of each teacher’s worldwide health insurance, dental, and life insurance.
