Dominic Currer

Dominic Currer started his career in his home town of London, teaching History and Politics up to A-level along with PE, Spanish, and French. His first move abroad took him to Switzerland, which, as countries go, is hard to leave, and he stayed 20 years. He began at the American International School of Zurich as a History teacher, then went on to run the Middle School at Zurich International School. His departure from Canton Zurich took him just down the road to Canton Zug, where he joined The International School of Zug and Luzern and served as Director for 12 years. Over that tenure he led a school merger, four major building projects, two capital campaigns, and a ten fold increase in student numbers. Across his career he has taught throughout A-level, IBDP, AP, GCSE, and MYP, adding Art History to his subjects along the way.

Growing a school that fast meant hiring at scale, and he spent years on the road doing it, at Search fairs in the UK, the US, Bangkok, Australia, and Dubai. Along the way he has spoken at conferences on educating adolescents, board governance, and Director evaluation, led CIS accreditation teams, been published on the future of the MYP, and served six years on the ECIS board.

Dominic joined Search Associates seven years ago and now runs our UK North and Ireland office and co-organizes the London March fair. Years spent on the other side of the table, hiring the educators he now works with, shape how frankly he talks with them about what a school is really offering and what a contract actually says. He holds a BA in History and Politics and an MSc in International Relations from the University of Southampton, and a PGCE from the University of London.

Dominic is based in Gibraltar, where he lives with his wife Adrienne, who also works in the UK North and Ireland office.
