About Gavin
Gavin Hawk grew up hearing about Search Associates. His grandfather, John Magagna, founded it; his aunt, Jessica Magagna, now runs it. Long before he worked here, he was around the office and helping get the Cambridge fair ready, making nametags and running copies, the way you do when the family business is simply part of the house you grew up in.
He joined formally in 2010 as a project manager, after graduating cum laude from Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania in Communication Studies. From there he moved into helping manage the Northeast territory alongside his aunt, then the Senior Associate responsible for it, and spent more than a decade working next to her, learning about the company from every angle.
Technology was the part he kept coming back to. Gavin started handling technical support, and as the systems grew more complex, he taught himself what he needed to keep up with them, then kept going. He is now the person at Search Associates who understands how all of it fits together, from the website and internal platforms to the tools every office depends on. As Technology Operations Manager, he runs the projects that move those systems forward, working directly with developers to turn what the business needs into what actually gets built, and testing it himself before it reaches anyone else. He has also become our resident expert on AI, bringing tools into our operations that have made real differences in how efficiently the company runs.
He still helps run the Cambridge fair each year with his aunt, the same fair he was making nametags for as a kid. He still makes them.
Gavin lives in Northeast Pennsylvania with his wife, their two cats, and their dog. He travels as often as he can and spends his free time golfing and skiing.
