Build Your International Teaching Career in Vibrant Bangkok
School Spotlights
International Pioneers School (IPS) offers educators the opportunity to teach and grow in one of Asia’s most dynamic cities, with two campuses serving students from Early Years through Year 13, while the Krungthonburi campus welcomes students in Years 7 through 13.
The main campus, Krungthonburi, sits in the vibrant Khlong San district on the Thonburi side of the Chao Phraya River, just a 15-minute drive southwest of Bangkok’s city center. The campus is surrounded by a lively urban neighborhood where modern high-rise buildings and condominiums sit alongside local markets and luxury developments. Just a few hundred meters from the Chao Phraya River, the school also offers educators an opportunity to enjoy a more relaxed riverside setting amid the energy of the capital.
IPS’s second campus in Bangkae, approximately 15 kilometers west of the city center, provides a greener, more suburban environment with lower-density housing. Both campuses are well connected by the BTS Skytrain, making it convenient for educators to explore Bangkok and enjoy the many cultural, dining, recreational, and entertainment opportunities the city has to offer.
Inside the school, educators have access to facilities designed to support a broad and engaging educational experience. Science laboratories for general science, physics, chemistry, and biology serve students in Key Stages 2 to 5, while two ICT laboratories provide extensive internet facilities and robotic kits. The IPS Auditorium hosts major school events, including assemblies, concerts, productions, competitions, inter-school activities, and exhibitions. It also serves as an examination hall for Cambridge, Edexcel, and SAT examinations.
Students can stay active on the covered court, which accommodates basketball, badminton, and football as well as assemblies and a variety of wellness activities, including yoga, dance, and aerobics. The school’s art and design rooms provide space for students to explore sculpting, sewing, oil painting, watercolors, and acrylics, with the Key Stages 3–5 art room also equipped to support IGCSE Art.
Music is another important part of the student experience. Dedicated music rooms enable students to learn piano, guitar, violin, keyboard, and drums, as well as traditional Thai instruments. Through these opportunities, students develop their musical skills while also gaining a deeper appreciation of Thai culture.
Accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges, IPS offers A Levels and the International General Certificate of Secondary Education. The school has more than 800 students, approximately 74 percent of whom are from Thailand, while 45 percent of its international teaching staff are Thai, contributing to a diverse school community with strong local connections.
Beyond the classroom, IPS offers an extensive range of extracurricular activities designed to give students opportunities to discover new interests and develop their talents. Sports and wellness options include volleyball, badminton, futsal, yoga, and table tennis. Students with creative interests can participate in crafts and calligraphy, guitar, IPS Band, modern dance, filmmaking, photography, publication and journalism, creative writing, and more. Unique offerings such as Harry Potter Club, Eco-Fashion Show Club, Master Chef Club, Science Experiments Club, Little Chef Club, Chinese Arts & Crafts Club, and Green Earth Club add even more variety to the student experience.
For educators considering their next international school opportunity, IPS offers an inclusive approach to recruitment. The school hires certified teachers with diverse professional profiles, including newly certified candidates and couples where one partner is not a teacher. Interns interested in gaining international teaching experience may also be considered. Candidates do not necessarily need to hold an academic degree in the subject they teach. In accordance with Thai regulations, certified teachers up to age 55 may obtain a work visa.
The school’s benefits package is designed to support educators as they make the transition to life and work in Thailand. Benefits include allowances for moving, settling in, and housing. Tuition for up to two children is discounted by 50 percent during the first year and 90 percent in subsequent years. Worldwide health insurance is fully covered, and professional development opportunities are available to support staff members in their continued growth.
