Robert Harper Appointed Next Director of Banjul American International School

On behalf of the Board of the Banjul American International School (BAIS), The Gambia, Search Associates is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Robert Harper as Director of BAIS, beginning in August 2024.

Mr. Harper holds a M. Ed. in International/Overseas Administration and Supervision from The College of New Jersey and an Ed. S. in Instructional Supervision from Tennessee Tech University.

As part of his 17 years in international education, Mr. Harper brings previous experience in leadership as Director of a school in Nouakchott, Mauritania, in West Africa, where he served for two years. He is currently teaching English and coaching football and basketball in Tennessee, USA. In his free time, he enjoys watching and playing sports—golf, racquetball/squash, and tennis—attending social events and live music/concerts, and traveling. Excited to return to international education and school leadership in West Africa, Mr. Harper says,

My short-term goal is to have a smooth and seamless transition to BAIS and to build on Myna Anderson’s excellent work during her tenure there. My long-term goals are to follow up on and accomplish the goals set by the school during the most recent MSA self-study, to increase enrollment, to continue the long-term administrative stability that Myna has provided the school, and to always remember that every decision needs to be made from the perspective of what is in the best interests of students.

Search Associates would like to thank all of the candidates who applied for this position and to everyone who assisted and supported the successful search process for BAIS.
