Search Associates’ Melbourne Fair Marks a Milestone Year at New Venue
General News
The 2026 Search Associates Melbourne Fair brought together a vibrant community of educators and international school recruiters. Hosted by Search Associates Nick and Paula Kendell, the fair reached new heights as it debuted a fresh venue and welcomed candidates and schools from across the globe. One grateful participant noted:
Meeting recruiters and fellow candidates in person was invaluable. As a longstanding Search Associates candidate and recruiter, it was so encouraging to know that Nick, Paula, and Deidre were there for me every step of the way…providing gentle support throughout the process. The venue was spacious and the gorgeous weather enabled us to be outside in the courtyard as well as inside, giving breathing space and fresh air from time to time. The endless coffee, chocolates and lovely lunches were very welcome too! Thank you.
For the first time, the fair was held at the Melbourne University Business School. Its light, airy design and bright, modern function spaces created an energizing atmosphere that supported both professional conversations and informal networking.
Schools conducted interviews in private conference rooms, giving candidates the space and comfort needed for meaningful discussions. Meanwhile, school presentations took place in lecture halls equipped for clear, dynamic communication — an ideal setting for principals to showcase their missions, values, and opportunities.
A Global Gathering of Talent
This year’s fair welcomed 108 candidates from across Australia and New Zealand, all eager to explore opportunities in international education. They were joined by 34 schools representing 17 countries, highlighting the fair’s global reach and its reputation as a trusted recruitment hub.
An expert advisory team of former heads of international schools was on hand throughout the event. Their insights and guidance proved invaluable, helping candidates refine their approach, prepare for interviews, and navigate the complexities of international recruitment. A candidate said in our survey,
It was a fantastic experience to go to the Melbourne job fair. There is nothing more valuable than meeting with schools face-to-face and speaking to experienced teachers who have been on the circuit. The whole thing was run brilliantly, and I came out with a job!
Outstanding Outcomes for Candidates

The fair delivered exceptional results: A large percentage of candidates reported that they have already received job offers, reflecting both the high caliber of attendees and the strong demand from schools. Some candidates have already accepted positions, with many more decisions expected in the coming weeks.
Candidates praised the quality of the schools, the professionalism of the event, and the supportive staff who ensured the fair ran smoothly from start to finish. One exclaimed,
I came here to network and make some connections and walked away with a contract. I still can’t believe it! Everyone has been so helpful, and the advisors were essential helping me with my decision.
A Successful Fair with Lasting Impact
The 2026 Search Associates Melbourne Fair not only connected educators with exciting global opportunities — it also fostered a sense of community and shared purpose among those committed to international education. With its new venue, strong outcomes, and overwhelmingly positive feedback, this year’s fair set a new benchmark for future events. One candidate could not have summarized it better:
The Melbourne fair was an invaluable experience. Many flew in from Sydney, Adelaide or New Zealand, and it was a great return on investment. If this is one of your first international experiences, you should absolutely attend this fair. It is packed with positive people who love their schools, their students and have all been where you are sitting. Even if they don’t have a job for you, they are there to help.
