International School Dongguan in the Hub of Commerce

Opportunities await at the International School of Dongguan (ISD), now registered with Search Associates. ISD is located in the lush Pearl River Delta of Guangdong Province in southern China, a two-hour drive from Hong Kong, one hour from Guangzhou, and near a major international airport. Dongguan is home to over 33,000 foreigners and 15,000 overseas invested enterprises, and it is often named the world’s manufacturing capital because millions of its products are exported worldwide.

This premier pre-K-12 school is accredited by theWestern Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) and is authorized to offer the International Baccalaureate Program (IB) for students in grades 11 and 12. The school is also approved by the National Council of Curriculum and Textbook Development (NCCT), endorsed by the Chinese Government, and is a member of both the Association of Chinese and Mongolian International Schools (ACAMIS) and the East Asia Regional Council of Schools (EARCOS).

ISD’s ultra-modern campus comprises a building on 8 ½ acres and includes facilities to please scholars, artists, scientists, and athletes, one and all! The complex boasts a Black Box Theatre, a modern science lab, a 300-meter rubberized running track, two basketball courts, two tennis courts, a full-size gymnasium, and a playground. ISD is also the only international school in Dongguan with a purpose-built facility that can comfortably accommodate up to 500 students. The student population of 300 is 40% Chinese and includes a mix of 20 other nationalities. Students are taught by a faculty of 45, 40 of whom hail from North America, and 5 of whom are from China.

ISD is most interested in hiring single teachers and teaching couples, with or without dependents Teacher qualifications include having a Bachelor’s degree in a teaching field and valid teaching certification, in addition to a minimum two years’ full-time teaching experience.Candidates can be up to the age of 60 and must have teaching certification to obtain a work visa. The salary and benefits package allows for considerable savings; teachers are provided with fully-furnished housing, a generous moving and settling-in allowance, one round trip per year, tuition fees waived for dependents, and a 5% retirement benefit at the end of every year. Though employees pay 50% of the health insurance premium, coverage does include local and worldwide major medical as well as dental, long-term disability, and life insurance.
