Mr. Myles Jackson Appointed New Head of CHIS
General News
On behalf of the Board of Crescendo-HELP International School (CHIS) in Johor, Malaysia, Search Associates is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Myles Jackson as the next Principal (Head of School), to begin in August 2024. Myles shares his excitement:
The prospect of working at CHIS is thrilling for many reasons; first and foremost, it is an outstanding school: very dynamic, learning focused and systematically developing towards the highest standards of programme implementation and student wellbeing in all areas. Remarkably, the school is relatively new, still growing and still developing its programmes, which makes it particularly exciting, to help them continue their journey and grow their reputation, both regionally and internationally. I have great respect for the achievements of all members of the community at CHIS. It has taken a tremendous amount of work to establish the school as it is today, and all should be very proud of what they have achieved.

Myles, who is British, first earned a Graduate Diploma in Music from City of Leeds College of Music, UK followed by a Master of Educational Leadership from The College of New Jersey, U.S. After working in the UK for several years as a music teacher and in the field of educational technology, Myles moved into international education in 2005, teaching music at Regent’s International School (IS) Pattaya, Thailand. He then moved to Korea as Head of Music at the International School of Busan before taking headships at the International School of Koje and Osaka International School, Japan. Current Head of Kyoto International School Myles Jackson has an inspirational motto to rely on for “every scenario.” Here are just a few:
- Student wellbeing is our first priority, and learning is the second—but you can’t have one without the other.
- Schools are all about relationships and characters.
- PPI: Presume Positive Intentions
- If I wasn’t here trying to deal with this, someone else would be doing it, so why not me?
- Solving problems is the role.
Myles and his wife Hosik are looking forward to their new life in Malaysia. Their son Ben (18) is eager to explore Malaysia with them during his university holidays. Myles is already excited to learn Bahasa Malaysia and “find out more about the amazing language diversity of Malaysia.” He admits that though he is not a great expert in language acquisition, he greatly enjoys “acquiring the basics and, if possible, moving into intermediate levels of language in each country” he lives in. In his free time, Myles continues to play music; these days, he has been learning blues guitar. He divulges his plan:
I always say that when I retire, I’m going “on the road” with a band. People smile benignly when I say that, but I’m only half joking. It might just be down the road to a local venue, but I’ll be fine with that!
The Board of Crescendo-HELP International School and Search Associates wish to thank each of the candidates who expressed interest in this important position, and everyone who contributed to the success of our extensive search process.
