About the School
Founded in 1995, Australian International School Hong Kong (AISHK) is the only co-educational school in Hong Kong to offer the Australian National curriculum. Students in the senior years can choose between the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme and the NSW Higher School Certificate. Today, approximately 1,200 students from Reception through Year 12 (kindergarten to the senior years) attend AISHK from 24 nationalities. AISHK offers international educators the opportunity to teach in a dynamic global city as part of a diverse and welcoming school community located in Kowloon Tong.

Location
The campus is less than five minutes from a shopping mall, restaurants, other international schools, and a train station (with Hong Kong Island in close proximity). Living and working in Hong Kong also puts educators within easy reach of an impressive range of cultural, recreational, and family-friendly attractions. Highlights include a marine-themed amusement park with an aquarium and rides, Hong Kong Disneyland, the Big Buddha on Lantau Island, panoramic views from Victoria Peak, hands-on museums, and art galleries. Hong Kong’s urban areas are surrounded by countryside, lush green mountains, and lots of beaches, for weekend and evening hiking and swimming.

The campus
The campus boasts two full-sized gyms, a 200-meter running track, a turfed outdoor soccer pitch, and a 25-meter swimming pool. But AISHK is enhancing its campus, and during the term break, extensive renovations are taking place! In 2025-2026, the cafeteria was renovated; a new fitness studio was added, and classrooms have been remodeled. In 2026-2027 the playground will be upgraded along with the performing arts rooms. The entrance hall and visitor center will also be remodeled and renovated to create a more welcoming environment. In the coming years, AISHK plans to renovate more classrooms, science labs, and other areas of the school to develop the best possible teaching and learning environments for now and the years to come.

ECA
The opportunities for students to explore their interests continue beyond the classroom, with more than 80 extracurricular activities offering enrichment and connection. Programs support athletes, STEM innovators, performance and visual artists, and students can develop skills in areas such as chess, cooking, and debate.

Qualifications
For educators considering an international teaching position, AISHK welcomes certified teachers with diverse professional profiles. Teachers must hold an academic degree in the subject they teach. Although Hong Kong has no age limit for obtaining a work visa, all teachers must apply for registration with the Education Bureau, which assesses their degree, teaching qualification, and practicum experience. Academic qualifications are also an important consideration for the Immigration Department when determining eligibility for an employment visa.

Benefits Package
AISHK’s benefits package provides additional support for educators relocating abroad. In addition to a non-taxed salary, the package includes relocation support, a settling-in allowance, and two weeks of accommodation while teachers secure housing. Tuition is also discounted for teachers’ children. The school also supports ongoing professional development and provides health insurance, with the option for staff to add dental coverage at their own expense.
