Search San Francisco Fair

The SEARCH crew: Bob Imholt, Gary & Barbara MacPhie, Julie Ryan, Jim Albers, and Jen ImholtSearch Associates (SEARCH) is renowned for helping educators embark upon their first international teaching adventures. On February 7–10, 2020, Senior Associates Bob and Jennifer Imholt hosted the San Francisco Job Fair. Now in its 13th year, Search San Francisco is regarded as an excellent venue for outstanding international schools to connect with enthusiastic, qualified teachers looking to work overseas, many for the first time.

Search San Francisco’s relaxed atmosphere and supportive environment make it an excellent setting for educators to make connections and experience what the world of international teaching is like. Senior  Associates Gary MacPhie and Julie Ryan were there to assist Bob and Jennifer Imholt and their team, and this year’s participants appreciated the advice and support they received from SEARCH staff.

Attending school presentations gave prospective international educators a chance to experience the diversity of schools and countries represented. Candidates were also invited to a presentation introducing the International Baccalaureate Program, given by Assistant High School Principal Hilary Sy-Quia of the French American International School of San Francisco. Senior Associate Julie Ryan talked about interview skills for success, and Senior Associate Gary MacPhie and his wife Barbara hosted a presentation with advice on moving overseas.

This year’s event was held at the San Francisco Airport Marriott Hotel, a convenient five-minute drive from the airport. The hotel rests beside the waterfront, providing a picturesque backdrop for recruiters and candidates to network and interview.

As always, it was exciting for us to see candidates secure international teaching jobs, and for all, the opportunity to learn about teaching overseas made for an enriching weekend!
