Search San Francisco Job Fair

Jim Albers (L), Jen and Bob ImholtFor international educators seeking a friendly, boutique-sized job fair—especially those seeking a first-time overseas teaching position—Search Associates’ San Francisco Fair might be just the right choice! This February 4-5, Senior Associates and fair hosts Jen Imholt and Bob Imholt welcomed 86 candidates to meet with recruiters from 23 schools in 17 countries. On the table were over 200 international teaching openings.

The intimate atmosphere of Search San Francisco means that staff is able, more than ever, to provide personal attention and advice for those wishing to teach abroad. Joining Jen and Bob in running the fair this year were their daughter Lori Imholt, Executive Assistant Jim Albers, and Senior Consultant Julie Ryan. In addition to advising participants, Julie held a workshop on Interview Tips, and Jim gave a presentation on Moving Overseas. Jim had this to say:

The size, feel, personalized attention, and wonderful conversations that transpired over the course of just a couple days made this fair such an amazing weekend to remember. On several occasions, recruiters approached us just to comment on the caliber of educators that were at the fair. Numerous candidates stated that they did not anticipate just how impactful this fair would be on their lives, and were amazed at the variety of schools in attendance and the networking opportunities that they were exposed to by attending-both with recruiters and candidates.

Jen Imholt and Julie RyanThrilled to be back in person for the first time in three years, Bob and Jen found the Westin San Francisco Airport Hotel perfect for hosting the fair. Located only a 5-minute shuttle ride from the SFO International Airport, the venue is very accommodating for recruiters and candidates attending from local and international regions. Within the cozy setting, the hotel staff treated all attendees with sincere warmth and care.

Jen added that they were overjoyed to be back in person and provide attendees with the personal touch for which SEARCH is known:

We were so happy to meet and greet candidates and recruiters in person for the first time since 2020. It has been a tough couple of years for educators and schools. We recognize that the world is emerging from the challenges of the pandemic, and with travel restrictions easing, we hope that this year will mark the return and growth of SEARCH’s in-person events once again. It is a big advantage to meet in person and make connections between schools and candidates!

One candidate said,

The job fair opened our eyes [to] all of the amazing opportunities. Thank you for your ongoing support and reassuring me throughout this process.

As Jen, Bob, and Jim took in the many handshakes and hugs in the fair’s final hours, Bob summed up the event, “That was a 10 in my book.”
