Search London–January 2019

The office of Senior Associate Gez Hayden is buzzing after Search London–January Fair, January 25th–28th. With 1,049 job postings from recruiters representing 169 schools, it’s a good thing Gez brought a legion of Search Associates with him: Director of School Relations David Cope as well as Senior Associates John RitterHarry Deelman, Bob Barlas, Diana Kerry, Julie Ryan, and Gary MacPhie. The candidate advisor team also included Margaret Deelman, Tony Race, Rebecca Steadman, and Rosie Eacott. Others provided back office support in every which way: Amelia Ren-Hayden, Susan Ritter, Nancy Barlas, Barbara MacPhie, Mike Deelman, Roger Platt, Josh Hayden, Laurie Hayden, and Dan Smith.  This is how Search Associates keeps its promise for personal service—regardless of a fair’s size! One candidate said,

“I want to thank Gez and the Search Associates team for doing a great job organizing this event and for being so helpful throughout the fair. I am really happy I was able to attend. . . I have left with many contacts and have since had second interviews to a few schools. Fingers crossed!”

Search London–January Fair specialises in candidates with international school experience in the International Baccalaureate programmes and in the British international programmes. This year 515 candidates fit the bill! Gez anticipates about 250 international teaching positions filled as a result of the event. Another candidate had this to say:

“I really enjoyed the fair. It was my first experience and, overall, a good one. I met so many wonderful, helpful and knowledgeable people, saw some great presentations, and had good interviews.”

This year, a new feature was introduced to participants: a messaging app called Attendify. The app, first piloted at Search Melbourne Fair, will also be tested at Search San Francisco before Search Associates makes its final evaluation. Of the 935 potential users introduced to Attendify thus far—including the Search Associates team—800 have downloaded the app and established Attendify profiles for the event. Gez has determined that, during Search London–January, there were 32,467 sessions and 1,889 interactions using Attendify.

Post-fair survey results reveal that 94% of recruiters and 92% of candidates rated the organisation of Search London–January as Good–Excellent while 94% of candidates rated the attending schools as Good–Excellent. Likewise, 97% of candidates were satisfied with the helpfulness of information prior to the fair. We look forward to more good news in the coming weeks as candidates say yes to their next overseas teaching appointments!
