Dear Colleagues and Friends,

On behalf of the Search Committee at the American International School of Cape Town, I am pleased to announce that after a worldwide search that produced a large number of highly qualified candidates, Mrs. Elizabeth Imende has been appointed as the new Director of Teaching, Learning, and Innovation to begin with the 2018-2019 academic year.

Mrs. Imende is currently the Director of Advancing Educators, a consulting firm that helps drive innovation and high-impact student success efforts in American schools worldwide. The mission of Advancing Educators has been two-fold: to improve alignment of school governance, leadership, classroom practices, structures, and policies in service of student-centered learning and to support educators in making substantial, sustained improvements to their teaching practice. Mrs. Imende is also a senior consultant with Research for Better Teaching, the organization with the longest and most successful track record of any professional development provider in the United States for helping adults in schools recognize and support high quality teaching. Previous to these roles, Mrs. Imende was an adjunct professor and teacher preparation supervisor at Northeastern University’s School of Education and a high school English teacher in the USA and Germany.

Mrs. Imende earned her BA in English at Wake Forest University and her Ed.M in Teaching and Learning at Harvard University Graduate School of Education. She has consulted at international schools worldwide and is a common presenter at major international conferences, including European Council of International Schools (ECIS), Central and Eastern European School Association (CEESA), Association of International Schools in Africa (AISA) and Near East & Southern Asia Council of International Schools (NESA).

The AISCT’s Search Committee would like to thank all candidates who expressed interest in the Director of Teaching, Learning, and Innovation position, and to everyone who assisted and supported the search process.

Sincerely,

Dr. Daniel Jubert
