American School Hong Kong
American School Hong Kong (ASHK) is a non-profit, college preparatory international school in Hong Kong offering a holistic American education taught by qualified North American teachers who inspire, motivate and challenge students to achieve excellence.
The school is accredited for grades KG-G10 by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) and the Middle States Association of Schools and Colleges (MSA), two leading accrediting commissions for Schools in the United States. ASHK’s mission is “To provide a challenging American and international education program that empowers students to be independent critical thinkers and responsible global citizens who excel in their future studies and careers”.
ASHK opened in September 2016 after a winning bid in the HK EDB campus allocation exercise. The bid was awarded based on the strong credentials of Esol Education and the focus on quality from a family-based organization rather than the sometimes financially-driven bids by other providers.
Subsequently the school has renovated the spacious campus serving students aged 5-18 years old. ASHK has grown from its opening in 2016 up to Grade 6 to its first tenth grade class in 2020-2021. Its program is an enriched, STEAM focused curriculum aligned with the US Common Core/NGSS and it offers the IB Diploma in Grades 11 and 12. ASHK has made great progress and developed a strong reputation as a student-centric, academically rigorous school that develops well-rounded students under the leadership of its founding director for 5 years. It is well positioned to build on this strong start and offer a new director the chance to achieve further growth and achievements.
