School Details

Founded in 1956 by Mary Crist Fleming, TASIS is the oldest American boarding school in Europe. TASIS has approximately 250 boarding students in grades 6-12 and 450 day students across its PK-12 programs. With almost 60 nationalities represented on campus, TASIS is a truly international setting located in the heart of Europe. TASIS's breathtaking campus and programs embody the principles of truth, goodness, and beauty so dear to the school. TASIS seeks to combine the best of world cultures and Western Civilisation in its programs.

TASIS has full IB Diploma, AP, and college preparatory programs, and comprehensive co-curricular programs. In addition to a challenging and engaging academic program, TASIS believes firmly in students stretching themselves in all areas. TASIS offers full programs in athletics, visual and performing arts, academic travel, local and global service, as well as other co-curricular programs and leadership opportunities.

TASIS seeks to find intellectually-curious, internationally-minded, kind, caring, and engaged students from around the world. TASIS also seeks to promote these characteristics in its students and community in the classroom and on campus. The combination of day and boarding students, a wide range of academic and co-curricular programs, and the beautiful and culturally rich surroundings make TASIS one of the most enchanting and dynamic schools around.

TASIS is located in the darling town of Montagnola, Switzerland, just a short bus ride to Lugano, Switzerland, one of the safest and most beautiful small cities in the country. TASIS is blessed by its surroundings of mountains, lakes, trails, and snow, all combined with immediate access to the wider world through its proximity to major cities such as Milan and Zurich.

The campus itself is one of the most beautiful in the world and has been dubbed a "global village" due to its old-world architecture and well-designed interconnectedness. TASIS has beautiful unique buildings dedicated to classrooms, science, visual and performing arts, residential life, library, and athletics and physical education, food services, and administrative offices, yet all of these buildings combine to make an interconnected whole.

TASIS remains one of the most active campuses around. On any given day all facilities are in full use, and any random walk across campus will encounter a basketball game, an outdoor physics lesson, a vocal practice session, a PE class, a painting class, a math extra help session, a robotics meeting, or a lesson on the history of music.

While the campus gives evidence of much planning and building in the past, the school has updated its master site plan and is set to add improved dorm space, classrooms, underground parking, and ultimate consolidation of its elementary school on the main campus. The majority of classrooms and students are housed on one campus on the Collina D’Oro in Montagnola, with the school’s early childhood program (PK-1) housed about a five-minutes down the road nearby.
