Seeks A New Head Of School
Effective July of 2015
On behalf of the Search Committee and the American School of Tangier, we are pleased to announce that Sarah Putnam has accepted the position of Head of School to commence the 2015/16 school year.
Currently Sarah Putnam is the Head of School at the International School of Aruba. She is also an active Certified National Trainer for Language Essentials for Teachers of Reading and Spelling (LETRS) and a Course Leader of “Instructional Supervision and Evaluation” for the Principals Training Center (PTC). Prior to her current Head of School position she has also been a Teacher Trainer with Keys to Literacy in Massachusetts. Sarah worked for several years as a Consultant for Rockwell Education Associates in Vermont, a company she created. At the Shanghai American School, China, Sarah worked as the Deputy Superintendent for Educational Programs. Before moving to China, she was a K-8 Principal with the Arrowhead School District in Montana. Prior that she was the Curriculum Coordinator for The American School in Japan. Sarah has also worked for the Missoula County Curriculum Consortium in Montana conducting teacher workshops on MAP testing for 15 public schools. Also in Montana she was a Principal at Woodman School District. She was also an Administrator and teacher at Concord International High School in California.
Sarah Putnam earned her Bachelors degree in Fine Arts from Harvard-Radcliffe College. She then went on to achieve her Masters in Elementary Education at the University of Massachusetts. Presently, she is working on her Ed.D. in Educational Leadership from the University of Montana.
