The Sultan’s School

Head of Secondary for August 2023

General Information

The Sultan’s School was established in 1977 under the guidance of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos Al Said and today is recognised as one of the leading bilingual schools in the Middle East. Over the last forty-five years the school has grown considerably and today educates more than 1100 students from Kindergarten to Year 13.

The school offers a bi-lingual (Arabic and English) education that seeks to provide a broad and balanced education of the highest quality which reflects and strengthens Omani and Islamic culture, whilst encouraging an international outlook.

Although we encourage a one school approach to our educational programmes, for logistical reasons the school is divided into two sections: Primary and Secondary.

Within the Secondary section, there are two distinct phases. In the Middle School (Years 7 to 9) we offer the Cambridge International Programme in conjunction with the Omani National Curriculum for Arabic, Islamic Studies, and Social Studies. In High School we offer the Cambridge International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) in Years 10 and 11 and this is followed by the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma in Years 12 and 13. At present there are close to 600 students in the Secondary section.

The school is fully accredited by the Council of International Schools (CIS) and is an associate member of EARCOS.
