This is an opportunity to lead Human Resources for one of Hong Kong’s most prestigious and well-established international schools, the Hong Kong International School (HKIS).

Founded in 1966, HKIS is one of Hong Kong’s oldest international schools, and it continues to set the standard in Asia for an American college-preparatory K-12 education. HKIS is home to approximately 2,880 students from over 40 different nationalities and 550 faculty and staff across two campuses in Repulse Bay (Lower and Upper Primary) and Tai Tam (Middle and High School).

About the role

The High School Principal will provide overall leadership in carrying out the school’s educational mission as stated in the Mission Statement, ensuring the highest quality of education is delivered and Student Learning Results are achieved.

The Principal is an educational leader and a communicator and enabler of the vision of a high quality education for high school students within the framework of the school’s Christian foundation. To realize the vision, the principal works collaboratively with other administrators, faculty and parents to meet student needs, monitor progress toward school goals and foster a sense of community.

  • Promote and support R1-12 alignment and a one-school approach;
  • Inspire and bolster mutual trust among faculty, staff, administrators and parents.

HKIS seeks to hire candidates who are interested in the complex questions of faith and spirituality and who are keen to learn and interact with others of different faith traditions.

Experiences Sought:

  • Well-respected, trusted leader with 10+ years of administrative, supervisory and teaching experience;
  • Has managed a team of 30 or more faculty;
  • Current with research-based, cutting-edge pedagogy and educational trends;
  • Curriculum development and evaluation strengths;
  • Successful experience with developing schedules including alignment and integration of secondary (grades 6-12) program, curriculum, and faculty;
  • Has successfully carried out a major program development or other change;
  • Experience working with a diverse student population from a wide variety of cultural, social and religious backgrounds;
  • Experience with diversification of curriculum and authentic, interdisciplinary learning;
  • Advanced degree;
  • Experience in American style education;
  • International School experience preferred.
