Position Qualifications

AUS is seeking a highly experienced, visionary, and student-centered High School Principal to join its leadership team. This leader will build upon the school’s strong foundation, inspire excellence across the division, and foster a culture of continuous improvement. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with exceptional relational and communication skills, extensive experience in American-style education, and a deep commitment to inclusion, innovation, and high-quality learning.

Qualifications & Experience
• Master’s degree in Educational Leadership, Administration, or related field (required).
• Valid school administrator or principal certification.
• Minimum 5–7 years of educational leadership experience, preferably in an international or independent school setting.

Description of Responsibilities/Duties:

Visionary Leadership and School Culture
• Promote and uphold the school’s mission, vision, and guiding principles.
• Foster a culture of excellence, integrity, equity, and student-centered learning.
• Lead the development and implementation of the High School Action Plan aligned with the AUS Strategic Plan.
• Ensure a positive, inclusive, and safe school climate that supports student well-being and high expectations.

Academic & Instructional Leadership
• Oversee curriculum implementation, development, and review in collaboration with academic leaders and department heads.
• Evaluate and support instructional practices using data to drive improvement.
• Ensure curricular alignment with Kuwait Ministry of Education standards and international accreditation requirements.
• Promote instructional technology, interdisciplinary learning, and 21st-century skills.

Faculty Supervision & Staff Development
• Recruit, supervise, and evaluate high school faculty and staff.
• Conduct classroom observations, formal evaluations, and goal-setting.
• Develop and implement targeted professional development plans.
• Build leadership capacity among instructional teams and academic leaders.

Student Support, Achievement & Well-Being
• Monitor student academic progress, behavior, and attendance.
• Oversee counseling services, College & Career Guidance, and intervention systems.
• Ensure consistent implementation of student conduct policies and restorative practices.

Operations & Program Management
• Develop and manage the high school budget and resource allocation.
• Lead the creation of the high school master schedule.
• Oversee extracurricular programs, assemblies, and events.
• Coordinate safety protocols and emergency procedures.
• Ensure timely updates to divisional handbooks.

Communication & Community Engagement
• Maintain transparent and strong communication with students, staff, and families.
• Build constructive relationships with parents and community partners.
• Represent the high school at events, conferences, and admissions activities.
• Address stakeholder concerns with empathy and professionalism.

Collaboration & Leadership Team Contribution
• Collaborate with leaders across divisions to ensure alignment.
• Serve as a contributing member of the AUS Leadership Team.
• Work closely with the School Director on strategic and operational matters.

Other Duties
• Ensure compliance with Kuwait Ministry of Education requirements and accreditation standards.
• Participate in inspections, accreditation visits, and reporting.
• Perform other responsibilities assigned by the School Director.
